WOW! I know I told you about DAGOBA coming to San Francisco to open up for returning metal band, Dir En Grey but you can’t believe how awesome they were!  I have been looking forward to seeing DAGOBA live since we have been playing a lot of their heavy songs from their latest album, LP “Post Mortem Nihil Est.” It was recently released here in the US only a couple weeks ago and on Sunday night they came to The Regency Ballroom on the Ghoul 2013 Tour with Dir En Grey.  We had the opportunity to interview Shawter, composer and singer for DAGOBA and here is that interview:   They really came out and put on an amazing show. They have excellent stage presence and this was their first time playing in San Francisco. Dir En Grey has a very tight following and it was awesome to see how DAGOBA won over the crowd.  They even got them to do the Wall of Death, Mosh pits, Circle pits and more. The energy was fierce and their [Read More]

November 25, 2013

It is Monday night and are you ready to get hooked on an KILLER Rock Band??? Sit back, relax and breathe  in the fresh new life of Black Oxygen!  Holy Shit, these guys are amazing. They have a sound that is definitely of their own and it reminds me of a blend of Stone Temple Pilots and Puddle of Mudd. Founder David Lyle not only is an amazing singer/songwriter but also the lead guitarist. Then you have bad ass Jordan Myer on bass and solid drumming by David’s younger brother Nick Lyle. These three guys create a powerful trio that has a big sound that will have you take notice. Black Oxygen released their full length debut album, “The American Dream” that has so many great songs on it that it will continue stay on the charts. Their first single, Take It To The Limit just grabs a hold of you and infuses their rock n roll into your veins. You are hooked now my friends, so just enjoy the ride.  You can check out [Read More]

November 21, 2013

Steel Panther on a Friday night? What better way to PARTY!! On November 8th, Steel Panther returned to the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco for another solid performance to a packed house.  They had two excellent opening bands, Hillbilly Herald and SpiralArms. Make sure to check out their write ups as well. When Steel Panther performs, it is always an amazing show. I know a lot of people think of them as only a heavy metal parody band, but you can’t ignore that these four guys are extremely talented musicians and can rival many metal bands out today with their talent. They make everyone miss the ’80s! You have the kick ass guitar riffs by Satchel, killer bass by Lexxi, solid drumming by Stix and the full on 80’s rockstar vocals by Michael.   You can check out a tribute video by Rockin Ryan which has footage and photos from their SF show:   Now in case you missed it, they recently released their video for their new song, “Party Like Tomorrow Is The End Of [Read More]

PALAYE ROYALE is truly one of the best Indie Rock Bands you have to hear!

November 20, 2013

I have to introduce you to one of the best Indie Rock bands out today that you have to hear! They are PALAYE ROYALE and they are a fashion-art rock band that has one of the best sounds out there today.  From the first time I heard them, it literally took me to a different place and time. You know that scene in Ratatouille where the food critic takes a bite of the chef’s dish; ratatouille and it immediately takes him back to a comforting  moment in his childhood? If you haven’t seen it, watch it. So what if it is dubbed a kid’s movie; it is still bad ass.  Well that scene reminds me of the first time I listened to PALAYE ROYALE that is exactly what happened…. I was listening to Get Higher and almost immediately, I was back in my friend’s apartment listening to a cassette mix tape she made from her trip overseas the summer before. It must have been late ’80s and she played for me what soon became one [Read More]
