Interview with Brian Corn of the powerhouse three piece rock band, QUOR

September 2, 2015

The powerful three piece rock band QUOR from San Diego was not always known by that name. Originally they were called We Are Going To Be Awesome and they had changed their name after Guitarist/Vocalist Brian Corn saw a giant liquor store sign glowing off in the distance on a foggy night out on the Pacific Coast Highway. Brian comments about how the catchy name came about, “The L and I were out and the sign read QUOR. I had to stop and photograph the sign.  The band name was changed to QUOR as we wanted a simple unique name.  The name QUOR poked at the current state of rock labeling everything into ‘core’ genre’s (hardcore, mathcore, metalcore, etc etc.) and we also avoided the trends in band naming that make every band sound the same.”  Even though the band is fairly new to the scene, forming in 2012, QUOR have since been gained quite a dedicated fanbase and their music can be described as their original moniker, AWESOME.  They are just about to release [Read More]

Interview with fire-driven rockers, Red Sky Mary as they stopped in San Francisco

August 12, 2015

Last year we featured an awesome new band, Red Sky Mary from New Hampshire and we have been anxiously awaiting their arrival on the West Coast. Well last week, they made a stop at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco for the Smokin Hot Tour with Texas Hippie Coalition. We made sure we we were not going to miss them. They blew us with their signature sound that fuses 70’s classic rock with modern hard rock and a flash of blues.  They have energy, charisma, smoking guitar riffs, and vocals that will have you in lust with them! We had the chance to chat with the band shortly before their set at the DNA Lounge and you can check it out here:   They rocked the crowd and played our favorites from their debut album, River Child which was released earlier this year on Carved Records. Interview with The Delta Saints and catch their epic rockin blues set out on tour!

August 10, 2015

We recently brought you some information about the infectious music of Nashville blues rockers, The Delta Saints. We were able to catch their set last night at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. The venue is ideal for capturing a band that delivers such energy and emotion when they perform and that is exactly what The Delta Saints did last night. We had the chance to chat with vocalist/guitarist and bassist, Ben Ringel and David Supica before their set and are pleased to bring it to you here: The Delta Saints kicked off the night with a set of swampy blues rock that would invigorate you and awake your soul. I have enjoyed their CDs but they truly take it to another level when you watch them perform. They dig deep and give every last bit of energy and emotion into each song. Ben’s vocals carry such a depth of emotion along with the swampy grooves on keys, blistering guitars, funktastic bass lines and on point hard hitting drums. What I love about their performance is [Read More]

Interview with Alliances contributed by Meryl DeWitt, Drift & Die Press

August 9, 2015

From the San Francisco area, Alliances is a new band with a refreshing sound! They’re working hard to create new modern rock music for your ears. Drift & Die Press recently spoke with the band about their newest release, hopes for the future, and more! DND: Where are you guys from? Benny Laing: Were all from different parts of the S.F. Bay area in California. DND: How’s the local scene for you? Benny: Right now our local scene is a little oversaturated with hardcore bands, and shifty booking agents, but it’s nothing new to us. We’ve all come from different bands from around the area and have been very active in the local music scene for years now. We’re hoping to stand out with our unique rock style and live performance. DND: What’s your favorite gig you’ve played so far? Jeremy Alfonso: We just released our first album ever in June and have only played one debut show so far at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. So that one is def our favorite haha. [Read More]
