Tantric is set to release a compilation of new, unreleased, and acoustic material under the title of “Blue Room Archives” on September 30through Pavement Entertainment. This new release will follow up 2013’s highly successful 5th studio album “37 Channels” which featured many guests such as Shooter Jennings and members of Hinder, 3 Doors Down, Saving Abel and even Leif Garrett. Blue Room Archives includes acoustic versions of the classic Tantric hits “Breakdown” and “Mourning”, as well as, the brand new single “Cynical”. Take a listen to the new song, Cynical here:   I love this new song! It really captivates a unique side of Tantric and I am excited for the new release! The title for the album comes from Tantric’s home studio “The Blue Room” where much production work and song writing have taken place over the band’s extensive career. Lead vocalist and frontman Hugo Ferreira comments: ” This isn’t so much a premeditated album, but a collection of music I have done that I always loved extremely but never found a place for.  It’s songs in their purest form, no flashy [Read More]

Interview with Doyle as he is out on the Annihilate America Tour!

August 29, 2014

Legendary Ex-Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has broken new ground with his solo project, “DOYLE”. His horror based hardrock metal band is currently out on their Annihilate America Tour! One thing is for sure, Doyle is bringing the intensity and energy to stages across the US. Check out the tour dates below but make sure to visit the tour dates on his Facebook page for the most recent dates(San Francisco is off): This is one tour not to miss. Doyle is amazing on guitar, he has this larger than hulk like presence and kicks out his smoking guitar riffs. You are just in awe and with the angst filled vocals of Alex Story and  you are in hardrock heaven. Doyle released The Abominator which is filled with 11 bad ass tracks to fuel your need for heavy monster metal. You can pick up your copy on iTunes here. We had the opportunity to chat with Doyle earlier this week as he is out on tour. We chatted about his album, how the tour is [Read More]

An Interview with Jeff Nisen of Lose Control by Patrick O’Heffernan

August 29, 2014

Los Angeles. Patrick O’Heffernan.  Lose Control just wrapped up a 40-day tour  which they delightfully chronicled on their web site in daily (well, almost daily) tour notes.  Following the band on the tour has been almost as much fun as listening to them, and they are a lot of fun to listen to.  This is heavy metal, but with a few twists, including dual guitar leads.  Everybody in the band is very, very talented and nobody in the band is egotistical – they play together like clockwork and the result is a sound of beauty. Jeff Nisen co-founded the band with A.J.  Bartholomew down the road from me in Hermosa Beach in 2011.  They had been playing music together since they were in middle school together.  They each formed their own separate bands after high school and then they reunited after honing their heavy metal skills. Drummer/producer  Mike Sutherland joined soon thereafter. Lose Control came to life and  started working on a debut album , Lose Control EP, released in 2012.   The band didn’t stop for a [Read More]

Interview with Pushing The Sun as they play the Phoenix Theater

August 28, 2014

Just last year, we featured Pushing The Sun on our 12 Days of Bands You Have To Know. In case you missed it, check it out here: Day 10 goes to Pushing The Sun. This is one band that really made an impression upon us from first seeing them perform at the Rockstar Uproar Festival in 2013. They are a heavy hard rock band fused with catchy melodies and emotionally driven lyrics. Their motto, Their motto, “We will light up your life, we have fire in our hands!” definitely rings true. Last Friday, we headed to the historic Phoenix Theater to catch their set and as I mentioned with our coverage of Approaching Fiction, it tended to be a light night for the crowd. That in no way stopped Pushing the Sun from delivering their adrenaline fueled set. They took the stage and fiercely rocked the theater! Andrew Saman is captivating on vocals as he creates a strong connection delivering such emotion with each word. He is powerful yet vulnerable, he is heavy yet comforting, he [Read More]

We have been big fans of State Line Empire as they consistently deliver shows with a 150% energy and are true crowd pleasers. Cat is always there to shred away but in his recent spotlight, you will really get blown away by his performance. Check out the video from EMGtv with Cat performing Deus Ex Machina: Cat is using the EMG 81 and 60 humbucker pickups. “I have been using EMG pickups for ever.
