A conversation with Chaz Kay of Undermine: metalizing fraggle rock by Patrick O’Heffernan

May 5, 2014

A conversation with Chaz Kay of Undermine: metalizing fraggle rock   By Patrick O’Heffernan, Host of Music FridayLive!   Metal can be an acquired music taste.  It is loud, hard driving, dark, and to some people , just noise.  But for those who take the time to listen to good metal bands and open their minds and bodies to the sound, it can be a window into a much larger universe.  One band that opens that window as few others do is Undermine, four artists who come to metal through modern fragglerock. They have mastered the art of synching powerful, sophisticated lyrics with a wall of sound – both vocal and instrumental – that leaves audiences exhausted and energized at the same time. Nominated for the Hollywood Music & Media best rock single 2013 and Los Angeles Music Award best rock song  & best rock album of 2013, Undermine has been recognized by the Rockwell Unscene magazine for being one of the top music groups of 2013 and one of the ten bands to look out for [Read More]

Faith and Bullets make their Hollywood debut at The Whisky a Go Go.

May 4, 2014

Our favorite local band, Faith and Bullets tore up the stage as they made their Sunset Strip debut at The Whisky a GoGo this past Friday night. We were there for the show and wouldn’t have missed it. We first featured Faith and Bullets on our Thirsty Thursdays a feature about bands who are thirsty for ROCK and the power to make it happen! This band is definitely dedicated and one of the hardest working band out here in the area.  All that hard work has paid off for them as they made down to their first of what I am sure to be, shows in Hollywood.  Here is our interview with Faith and Bullets from the Whisky a Go Go:   Faith and Bullets have a sound that blends old 80′s rock  like Motley Crue, Kiss, Poison, and Dokken with what I call “80′s on replay rock” like Crashdiet, Black Veil Brides, and Reckless Love. You have Stevie Mayhem on vocals who not only delivers incredible 80’s inspired vocals but has an amazing stage presence as well.  Rikk Alexander [Read More]

Get to know Love Crushed Velvet and get addicted to their alternative rock.

May 1, 2014

Love Crushed Velvet from New York City have released their new video for their song, “Bye, Bye, Baby”. The track was originally released on Love Crushed Velvet’s compelling new EP Delusions in September, mixed by Mark Needham (Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, The Killers). The song is awesome and I love the sultry emotionally driven vocals in this melodic rock track.  We had the opportunity to talk with Love Crushed Velvet and are pleased to bring you that interview here: * * * * * *  Music Junkie Press: Thank you so much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press.  First, we have to tell you that we are loving the video for Bye, Bye Baby. That song is really one of my favorites off Delusions, can you tell me a little bit more about that song? Love Crused Velvet: “Bye Bye, Baby” is about how challenging it can be to process the end of a relationship because things sometimes spiral downwards so quickly.  Much of one’s perception about the other person is formed during the “honeymoon” period when everything [Read More]

Check out our Interview with The Strive and pick up their single Keep Dreaming

May 1, 2014

The power pop band, The Strive from Kansas City have released an upbeat catchy new tune with Keep Dreaming earlier this month. The song has a great hard rock edge to it and will have listeners from all genres enjoying the passionate vocals, heartfelt lyrics and solid hook. We had the opportunity to interview vocalist, Brendan Stevens and are pleased to bring you it to you here: * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Thank you so much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press.  First we wanted to tell you that we love the energetic new song, Keep Dreaming, Can you tell us a little bit more about that song? Brendan: Thank you! Keep Dreaming to me is a song about never being able to break that wall of friendship with the person you’re truly in love with to progress to something more. I think while it’s one of our more fast-paced and “dancey” so to say songs, it’s also really bitter and dark which is a cool contrast to the upbeat tempo. [Read More]
