I am so excited for the new album by Sick Puppies, “Connect”. I truly have loved these Australian rockers for many years and they never cease to amaze me. For them I have my new saying, ” I love you more than your last album but less than your next album”. I can’t imagine ever loving them any more than I do and then… BAM… their new music just has me loving them even more. Avenged Sevenfold announces new album “Hail to the King” and the controversy begins

Avenged Sevenfold recently announced the title and cover art for their next album. Titled “Hail the King” is set to release on August 27, 2013. I know a lot of people have been waiting for new music from Avenged Sevenfold and you don’t have much longer to wait. This album with the first to featuring drummer Arin Ilejay who replaced the late, great Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died in 2009. Amidst all the excitement about the new album, there has been quite a bit of controversy around the cover art in addition to the rehashed discussion on A7X similar logo to one of my favorite bands, Overkill. You can check out the similarities below for the logo. Personally, I don’t think Overkill was the first to ever use bat wings along with a skull, that pretty much is just another image or icon from the metal or rock world and many bands use them. What do you get when you take some sweet blues, blend it with powerhouse vocals and top it with some rockin guitar? Well the incredible music of Lisa Lim, that is what. You can’t help but move to the great groove that Lisa gives out with her songs especially like “Superstitious Mind” or “Distant Second”. Falling in Reverse proves their Haters are their Motivators!

Falling in Reverse set the Roxy on fire today for their daytime show which was streamed live worldwide. This live stream was presented by Hot Topic and the only way to get into this exclusive show was to pre-order their new CD bundle “Fashionably Late” which was released today, June 18th on Epitaph Records. For those that purchased the package in the Southern California Hot Topic stores were treated to a free all ages show at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip. Get under the spell of Red9 and rock!

Today I was treated to a special afternoon filled with some KICK ASS Rock and Roll!!! I recently received the new CD by Red9 “Under Dark Skies”. It was a perfect sunny afternoon spent sitting outside and set the CD on play….. Then it began… Under Dark Skies… The first song Hold Your Own brings such a great Sabbath/Ozzy sound that just wakes you your senses and demands you take a listen. Great first song that has you looking forward to more. Patterns comes in next with an incredible drum and bass intro that just leads into an incredible rhythm that just sustains throughout the song. You are now just getting started and ready to rock and roll. Song 3 is Ignoramus and has a dark edgy sound with an exuberant build up that just delivers another well composed song. I know a lot of you know me for my intense love for rock and roll but you also should know that I have a soft spot for really good country music. Well my passion for country has just been satisfied. It has been a long time since I have had my affection for country music peaked in any way. Well that has all changed. I recently heard one of the most amazing voices that literally sent shivers down my spine! His name is Marty and he is from the Marty Ray Project. I watched a YouTube video where he did a cover of Billionaire by Bruno Mars & Travie McCoy.
