I know a lot of you know me for my intense love for rock and roll but you also should know that I have a soft spot for really good country music. Well my passion for country has just been satisfied. It has been a long time since I have had my affection for country music peaked in any way. Well that has all changed. I recently heard one of the most amazing voices that literally sent shivers down my spine! His name is Marty and he is from the Marty Ray Project. I watched a YouTube video where he did a cover of Billionaire by Bruno Mars & Travie McCoy. You can watch that video right here:
We then found out that there is much more to Marty than his cover songs on YouTube. He has his own original music. I couldn’t wait to listen to and to find out more about this burly bald teddy bear with a bad ass beard! Marty says, “My Mother always said when I cried as a baby it sounded like a song, I took her word for it.” I wouldn’t doubt that for one second. His voice just has such depth and clarity that really has you wanting more.
After showcasing his voice through his cover songs and videos, he has since released a 4 song all originally written EP titled “Tow Truck Driver”. This EP is now available on Itunes. From the second I pushed play, and Marty’s voice came in on the first song “Tow Truck Driver, I got shivers. I turned it up and called some friends in the business. I put the phone next to the speaker and had them take a listen. I immediately received the confirmation from numerous friends of how amazing his voice was! They all asked for the links to his Itunes and for me to write about him. They didn’t have to pull my arm for that, I couldn’t wait to spread the news about the Marty Ray Project. It reminded me of my all time favorite – Hank Williams Jr. but with a modern flair. The song itself has incredible lyrics and Marty just puts the right amount of energy into it.
Marty continues to astound you with his vocals on the the next three songs. He is definitely not a one hit wonder. He is awesome on all of them. “Country Man” is a lively entertaining song that is like a proud anthem for any country man to sing.
Marty keeps the momentum going with his next song, “Boots” he brings about a sensual and sultry edge into his music that you can’t help but sway your hips and flow with the music. The last song, “Paper” is definitely one of my favorites. The story told in this song is just magnificent and delivers a lesson in life on what truly matters.
Marty delivers his emotionally driven songs with his expressive vocals that really has me wanting more. So check him out and get his EP from Itunes. You will be definitely hearing more about the Marty Ray Project. This guy is going to be taking the Country scene by storm soon. The interesting thing is that Marty’s vocals are not limited to country style music, he has such a range that I think he will be incredible with anything he sings. Hell, he could be ordering a coffee by singing it and it would sound like sweet music.
