May 20, 2017

If you are heading out to the next couple Blue October shows, make sure to arrive early so you don’t miss Harvard of the South.  The band which formed from a side project with members of Blue October, Hurricane Bells and Longwave. We caught their recent performance as they kicked off the night at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco on May 17, 2017. It was quite a set! You couldn’t help but feel the rock take over your soul. Just last week Harvard of the South released their latest single, the compelling new song, Without and is from their forthcoming LP.  The catchy new song features emotionally driven lyrics, along with powerful vocals wrapped in an ethereal essence. Blues Rockers Kingsborough release new single and deliver stellar show at House of Rock

April 17, 2017

One of our favorite bands Kingsborough have had quite a busy weekend! The blues rockers were filming a music video Friday night and it included a night of great music, fans, massive bonfire and beer baseball. Then on Saturday night the boys delivered a stellar set opening for legendary rockers, L.A. Guns on their reunion tour at the RockStar University House of Rock. They were incredible as they unleashed their fusion of soulful blues and in your face rock! They literally bring an intensity to their music, soulful vocals that just grab a hold of you, catchy choruses, spectacular guitar solos, striking rhythms and big harmonies that need their own zip code. From Alex’s great finger picking, to Billy’s endless energy and charisma, to John’s heavy hitting precision drumming and Chris’s velvety smooth basslines – you are hooked!  When these four come together, they create something magical. As we have said before, this is one band that you can only be described as “ROCK AND ROLL AT ITS FINEST”. Check out some photos of their set [Read More]

Shinedown, As Lions and ColdKingdom; A Night of Music feeds my soul and rejuvenates my spirit

April 14, 2017

As you know our motto here at Music Junkie Press has always been Know Music = Know Life, No Music = No Life.  We are strong believers at how music can help, heal, inspire and change us in an instant. It can be the emotional release we need to let go of fears, pain or suffering. It can be the cheers of celebration when we have succeeded or overcome an obstacle. Or it can simply be the best friend who is there for you always, in good or bad times. Last night, we returned to cover shows after a two month hiatus we took, due to the loss of a family member. We have been in a lull, a rut of simply going through the motions, as we dealt with the day to day routines. Our time was spent barely showing any emotion, because any moment we felt our heart would break open again, and the sadness would flow endlessly. But we decided it was time to return to doing what we love and we headed [Read More]

Concert Review: Trivium, Shvpes and SikTh – Munich. Contributed by Alex Bock

March 29, 2017

Concert review, Trivium, Shvpes and SikTh Munich, Theaterfabrik – March 11th, 2017 It was yet another sold out show I had the pleasure to attend last Saturday. Trivium’s  final tour of Silence In The Snow made a stop in our beautiful town and the place was packed. They brought along two support bands, both from the UK. People were still pouring into the venue when Shvpes from Birmingham entered the stage. Not yet well-known around here, it didn’t take them long to warm up the crowd. Songs like ‘Skins & Bones’ or the title track of their debut album called ‘Pain, Joy, Ecstasy, Despair’ saw to that. Although a band for some years now, their first full-length record wasn’t released until last year October. Even before that though, they already opened up for bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Memphis May Fire and Young Guns. They’re also no strangers to festival stages like Download Festival and Slam Dunk. For 2017 Shvpes already announced to play at Rock Am Ring, Rock Im [Read More]

Concert review: The Amity Affliction with Northlane, Stray From The Path and Wage War by Alex Bock

December 19, 2016

Munich, Backstage Werk, Dec. 16th, 2016 This show closed my concert year 2016 and I have to say, it ended with a blast. A few days before, the show was sold out and the place was really packed, from the beginning. The crowd was obviously into all the bands, although all three opening bands had some sound problems in the beginning. Nevertheless the audience seemingly loved their performances, considering all the crowd-surfers, mosh-pits and circle-pits that happened during their sets. Wage War Stray From the Path Northlane The Amity Affliction were loudly welcomed by the crowd. The audience sang along to every song, knew all the lyrics by heart.  Almost constantly the security guys had to catch crowd-surfers and see to it, that they got out of the pit quickly, so no one gets hurt. The songs they played were mainly taken from their last two records ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ and ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’. Wise choice probably, because those records really let the band grow over the last years. Set-list: I [Read More]

Concert review: Alter Bridge with Like A Storm and Gojira, in Munich. By Alex Bock

December 13, 2016

Munich, Zenith, December 10th, 2016 This tour was announced about five months ago and it was a highly anticipated one. After the release of their latest record ‘The Last Hero’ on October 7th, Alter Bridge started out on an extensive tour through Europe and UK early November. With them on the road were Living Colour, Volbeat, Gojira and Like A Storm. The only band that stayed throughout the whole tour were Like A Storm. They were also the first band to play that night in Munich. The band has been out on tour through Germany earlier this year with Escape The Fate, where they played in a smaller clubs. Now with Alter Bridge they were able to play in front of big audiences, which in this case were about 5000 people. Already a popular rock act in the US and Canada, they have also gained many fans by now in Europe. Their latest record ‘Awaken The Fire’ sealed their breakthrough worldwide. Songs like ‘Love The Way You Hate Me’ or ‘Become The Enemy’ are [Read More]
