Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to BlackRain

December 16, 2013

Let’s get down and dirty for Day 8 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. How about some French glam rockers, BlackRain for Day 8?? These bad ass rockers first started in 2006 and quickly rose to fame in Europe and have become one of the most noted French rock bands.  You have Swan on Vocals and Guitars, Max on lead guitar and Mat on Bass and Frank on Drums. The first time I heard BlackRain is when my son Rockin Ryan played Overloaded for me and I was instantly transformed back to my nights spent on the Sunset Strip in the ’80s. At first I thought I was listening to an old Motley Crue track!! Swan on vocals just blows you away with his powerful voice and he has perfected the high vocal ranges of the ’80s. They have some shredding guitar with off the hook riffs.   You have to check out  Overloaded here:   Last year, BlackRain showed an excellent display of their risk-taking as they dared to take part in [Read More]

14 Bands that will rule 2014

Countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014. #9 goes to Art of Dying

December 16, 2013

Today on our countdown of 14 Bands that will rule in 2014 goes to Art of Dying. Rockers, Art of Dying from Canada have a constant spot on my daily music playlist.  Their music not only kicks ass in rock n roll but also have such emotionally charged lyrics that many can connect and relate to. I don’t think a day goes by where I didn’t listen to an Art of Dying song.  As I mentioned before,  I personally, have experienced the power of healing through music by listening to my favorite Art of Dying songs at one of the hardest times in my life. It truly is music to feed your soul wrapped in blazing rock and roll. It has been great to watch Art of Dying become one of everyone’s favorite bands and their fans all have great stories to share. Art of Dying is Jonny Hetherington on Vocals, Greg Bradley on Guitar, Jeff Brown on Drums, Cale Gontier on Bass/Vocals and Tavis Stanley on Guitar and Vocals. These guys are on fire and [Read More]

Day 3 of 12 Days of Guitarists goes to J.R. Bareis of Love and Death

December 16, 2013

For our Day 3 of 12 Days of Guitarists, I bring you one of most talented teens to the hit the stage in a very long time. J.R. Baries of Love and Death.  J.R. was picked by Korn guitarist, Brian Head Welch to join his band, Love and Death when he was only 15 in March 2011. J.R. has been playing guitar since he was 11 and it is amazing to know that he never took any lessons, completely self taught. He shreds on the guitar and has quite impressive skills that definitely qualify him as our guitarist extraordinaire. J.R. uses PRS Guitars, Mesa Boogie, GHS Strings, 1964 Ears, In Tune Guitar Picks and Best-Tronics Guitar Cables.  J.R. also shows how to play tutorials on his Youtube channel and you can learn how to play many of the Love and Death songs. We got to see J.R. play at Aftershock Festival earlier this year and I was excited to watch was Love and Death.  I have really enjoyed their album “Between Here & Lost” as it has some of my favorite [Read More]

Their single was mixed by local producer and mix engineer Darren Jenkins of Jenk Music Productions.  White Stallion is KC Venom on Lead Vocals, Blaze on Guitars and Vocals and Randy Roxxx on Bass. “Livin’ High” featuring Brian Tichy on drums is a bad ass that you have to check out. The band says about  having Brian play with them, “Having Brian (Tichy) playing drums on “Livin’ High” is just awesome! We’ve all admired his work for a long time, and to have the opportunity to work with him on our own music has been an excellent experience!”   Brian is an excellent drummer whose work with Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, and I love seeing him at the  Bonzo Bash during NAMM week (highlight of the year)!!  The song starts right off with a killer riff and then those strong, engaging vocals take right over. Brian Tichy’s drumming is precise and exactly what you would want in a rock anthem [Read More]
