U.G.L.Y. Debut EP DMT is out now and definitely is a must have!

December 10, 2013

Today is the release date for U.G.L.Y. debut EP DMT and it really is a great one and a must have. U.G.L.Y. which is an acronym for Under Greatness Lies You is Mijo (vocals/triggers/electronic drums), Braxton Olita (vocals/guitar/electronic drums/production), and Stormi Henley (vocals/keys/synths). Their newly released 6 track EP is primarily written and produced by the trio. Together they create a larger than life sound that is reminiscent of all the great ’90s electronic music but also updated and given new life with their own creative edge. It is magical, ethereal, blissful, haunting and purely entertaining. Here is a trailer for their EP:   The three come from very diverse musical backgrounds and as Braxton explains, We’re a melting pot of music. It’s a cross section of R&B, reggae, punk, electronic music, and all of our other influences. The goal is to reach as many people as possible. We’re pushing boundaries and incorporating so many styles into what we do.”  They have definitely achieved that and quite successfully, Regardless of what you typically listen to, U.G.L.Y. is absolutely captivating [Read More]

Tuesdays Travels Pick of the Week for Rock is CURRAN from UK

December 10, 2013

For our Tuesdays Travels Pick of the Week, I am excited to bring you CURRAN from the UK. They have an awesome rock n roll sound that will have you hooked from the first listen.  CURRAN is Mark Curran on Vocals, Mat Anthony  on Guitar, Dean Roberts on Rhythm Guitar,  Enrico Terella on Bass and Kris Rich on Drums. Check out their video for their song, “Run Back to You”   I just love that song. It has such a bluesy rock vibe and the vocals remind me of one of my all-time favorite vocalists, Tom Keifer.  It has a great build up on the intro that is perfect for a stadium show. I love the gritty guitars and the solos are bad ass.  I bet you want more? NO!! I KNOW YOU WANT MORE!! So check out their other video for their song, “My Love Won’t Let You Down”   They are just incredible and I can only imagine how awesome they would be to see live. If only I could travel to the UK because they [Read More]

What??? Lincoln Parish no longer in Cage the Elephant

December 10, 2013

So it appears that guitarist Lincoln Parish might no longer be in Cage The Elephant!  There has been no official statement released by Cage The Elephant but plenty of signs and tweets might give us the confirmation we need. Lincoln Parish has not been playing some huge gigs lately with Cage The Elephant, including their performance on Jimmy Kimmel live last night where they performed their recent single, “Come a Little Closer”. Lincoln has recently tweeted the following which may give us the insight we need in all this: What is exciting is that Lincoln will be doing a lot more with his songwriting and his production company, Talk Box Radio out of Nashville, TN.  He currently is doing some work with Penicillin Baby which has some great psychedelic pop/70’s vibe music that you just can’t not love.   So make sure to follow Lincoln on Twitter as well as  his production company Talk Box Radio so you can stay up to date on what he is working on. I will also leave you with Cage [Read More]

Macaulay Culkin shows his love for pizza with his Velvet Underground Tribute band; The Pizza Underground

December 9, 2013

Ok, so we all love pizza right? When I think of pizza and Macaulay Culkin, I don’t exactly think of music. I think of one of my favorite scenes from Home Alone where he orders the pizza and plays the movie “Angels With Filthy Faces” which is a play upon the James Cagney movie from 1938 “Angels with Dirty Faces”. Well, with that in mind, Macaulay Culkin has created a pizza themed Velvet Underground Tribute band titled, “The Pizza Underground” where all the songs have the lyrics updated with pizza theme references. How about the take on These Days updated and replaced with Cheese Days or I’m Waiting for Delivery Man instead of Velvet Undeground’s original, Waiting for the Man. All the songs on their demo were recorded at Macaulay Culkin’s house on November 11, 2013 and is available for download on their band bandcamp page here.   The complete list of songs are: I’m Beginning to Eat the Slice Pizza I’m Waiting for Delivery Man Cheese Days Pizza Day All the Pizza Parties Pizza Gal Take [Read More]

Day 1 starts right now with the heavy rock trio Centerlink from Boston.  We wrote about them earlier this year and you can read that post here. To relive that moment when I first listened to Centerlink….. “I went to watch it and was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously just BLOWN AWAY. I thought I had found the lost recording of Metallica of 1985! I went back to check the message so I could see the band name only to see David’s response to them about how the singer had some Hettfield in him! Oh ya, we were on the same wavelength! It was like true old [Read More]
