Check out the new single by Sick Puppies, “There’s No Going Back”

June 28, 2013

I am so excited for the new album by Sick Puppies, “Connect”. I truly have loved these Australian rockers  for many years and they never cease to amaze me. For them I have my new saying, ” I love you more than your last album but less than your next album”.  I can’t imagine ever loving them any more than I do and then… BAM… their new music just has me loving them even more. Their new album “Connect” is set to release on July 16th and you can pre-order it right with special bundles off of their website  here.   The recently released their new single from the album, “There’s No Going Back” and it instantly became my favorite song. I just the chorus, the energy, the lyrics, everything!! As soon as I hear it come on the radio, I am cranking up the volume and me and my family are all singing along. From 6 year old Brandon who at first was singing, “Hair’s no Growing Back” (He sometimes really gets those lyrics messed [Read More]

Avenged Sevenfold announces new album “Hail to the King” and the controversy begins

June 28, 2013

Avenged Sevenfold recently announced the title and cover art for their next album.  Titled “Hail the King”  is set to release on August 27, 2013.  I know a lot of people have been waiting for new music from Avenged Sevenfold and you don’t have much longer to wait.  This album with the first to featuring drummer Arin Ilejay who replaced the late, great Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died in 2009. Amidst all the excitement about the new album, there has been quite a bit of controversy around the cover art in addition to the rehashed discussion on A7X similar logo to one of my favorite bands, Overkill. You can check out the similarities below for the logo.  Personally, I don’t think Overkill was the first to ever use bat wings along with a skull, that pretty much is just another image or icon from the metal or rock world and many bands use them. Now let’s bring up the cover art. The cover art has been compared to Lich King’s cover for “World Gone Dead”. [Read More]

June 26, 2013

What do you get when you take some sweet blues, blend it with powerhouse vocals and top it with some rockin guitar? Well the incredible music of Lisa Lim, that is what. You can’t help but move to the great groove that Lisa gives out with her songs especially like “Superstitious Mind” or “Distant Second”. Here is her video for Superstitious Mind: Her sound reminds me of an edgier Sheryl Crow sprinkled with Susan Tedeschi. Lisa delivers passionate vocals and amazing guitar work, truly a work of art! Lisa is a  WAMA nominated singer-songwriter and she recently released her second CD, self titled,  which you are going to really love! Check out the interview we had with Lisa and learn more about this killer rocker blues artist! * * * * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Hi Lisa, thank you for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. How old were you when you first started playing guitar? Sugar and Spice and Metal is Nice! 6 year old metals it up on America’s Got Talent

June 26, 2013

Last night on America’s Got Talent, I had my faith in the younger generation restored and I know Heavy Metal will always live on!  I am not a regular at watching music/talent reality shows but I had caught a glimpse of a 6 year girl screaming out some heavy metal vocals and had to find out more. Yes, Sugar and Spice and Metal is Nice. That is what this little girl is made of! I was able to watch the full segment on Youtube and it was incredible. Out came this adorable 6 year old girl in a cute little polka dot dress, Aaralyn O’Neil and she was with her 9 year old brother Isaiah O”Neil.  Isaiah played drums as Aaralyn shocked the judges as she belted out her screams to her original song, “Zombie Skin”!  She must  have been channeling Mitch Lucker because I was amazed and loved every second of it. On the judges panel you can see Howard Stern and  Howie Mandel fully enjoying it. Then you see the shocked and confused [Read More]

MADLIFE brings high magnitude intensity to the stage!

June 24, 2013

A few months ago I had the pleasure of introducing MADLIFE to many of you. We had so many of you write in and tell us about your love for them. Well, it is no surprise since this  industrial hard rock band from Los Angeles gains fans seconds after you first hear them.  I can only imagine what seeing them live will do. We have been excited about catching one of their shows since we have heard amazing things about their stage presence and high octane filled shows and couldn’t wait to witness it firsthand. Well Friday night, we jumped at the opportunity to head down to Hollywood and catch their show at the Troubadour.  It was the first time I had been back to the Troubadour since maybe 1986? 1987? I know it was right before Warrant getting banned from there and I don’t even remember who was playing. Oddly enough, the place like many from the Sunset Strip actually looks the exact same. MADLIFE definitely delivered the most intense and engaging live performance [Read More]

Vampires Everywhere! is your “Drug of Choice”

June 19, 2013

Long before the popularity of Twilight or True Blood, there were the Vampire classics like Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Bela Lugosi and my personal favorite, The Lost Boys. It is from these classics that Michael Vampire of  Vampires Everywhere!  drew on these influences and became inspired.  Their sound is a blend of industrial metal/rock and is currently described as shock rock. I have recently been listening to their latest CD, “Hellbound and Heartless” and with high energy songs like  ‘Drug of Choice” or “Star of 666” you can easily get hooked.  A couple of my other earlier favorites are “Undead Heart” and “Immortal Love”, and have a great industrial/alternative rock sound to them. You can really hear their influence of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie but with a more updated edgier sound to it that I thing makes them stand out. Time to let your dark side out to come and play. Vampires Everywhere! recently headlined at the world famous Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip earlier this week. Frontman Michael Vampire, Chris Christ and [Read More]
