March 7, 2021

Ska-punk pioneers The Mighty Mighty BossToneS will release their 11th studio album ‘When God Was Great’ on May 7th via Hellcat Records. Co-produced by Ted Hutt (The Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys) and Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong (Transplants, Jimmy Cliff) ‘When God Was Great’ is the peak of their extensive career. The band brings friends, tour colleagues and band members from the past back for a sonic celebration, which emphasizes the power of perseverance and human connection in turbulent times. The album has 15 tracks that initially rose from a collective feeling of loss. The band states: “Before this madness, we simply wrote songs without any time plan in our heads. Suddenly the world changed and important events in a very long career that we looked forward to, like for example play with the Madness at the Greek Theatre, were taken from us”, frontman Dicky Barrett explains. “With all that time on our hands we started to write with an accelerated tempo and we were truly inspired. As dogged as everything around us was on the [Read More]

THE RUMJACKS RELEASE NEW LYRIC VIDEO “GOODNIGHT & MAKE MENDS”

February 22, 2021

‘Good Night & Make Mends’ is a punk rock mourning song of acceptance. It is the last song on the bands’ upcoming album ‘Hestia’, which will be released March 12th, 2021. Reading through a late friend’s poetry, the songwriter recalls all of the times the two friends casually said: “let’s write a song together sometime!” and never got around to it. Using lines of her poetry to form a call and response, the two friends, now separated by death, finally wrote their song together, albeit too late. The sorrowful tone of the uilleann pipes sets the scene for the song which reminisces on memories of drunkenly parading through the Boston snow after closing time. THE SPILL CANVAS RELEASE NEW SINGLE + VIDEO “DARKSIDE”

February 18, 2021

The Spill Canvas is back at it again. They’ve released the next single in anticipation of their forthcoming album “Conduit”, entitled “Darkside”. This is the third release since the announcement of the album, following the releases of “Firestorm” and “Molecules” feat. Sherry Dupree-Bemis of Eisley. “Darkside” is out now; fans can watch the video here and stream now here: On the track, lead vocalist and founding member, Nick Thomas, shares: “I feel this 3rd single from ‘Conduit’ is the most suitable song to demonstrate our concerted effort to make the most dynamically vast rock album we could. Mining the lyrical content from several old demos, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome-a cohesive portrait of a wildly toxic relationship from my past; wrought with infidelity and jealousy on both sides. Merging with the minor key, up-tempo groove, there’s an attitude of darkness the title references that we sought to adequately represent on this new record”. The band’s highly anticipated record, “Conduit”, will be out March 5, 2021 via Pure Noise Records. Fans can pre-order the [Read More]

This pandemic has influenced various perceptions of itself and the surroundings in a negative way. So many people already fought with mental problems before COVID even started. This song fights against everything that puts you down. Many people have lost a lot over the last few months and this song is about getting back up again and gather new courage. We had the feeling, that it is really important to shape the awareness for the great work the SAMH does, not only through the pandemic, but already since 1923, when it helped Scotland to survive the difficult times.” [Read More]

Normandie release new single/video for ‘Babylon’

January 8, 2021

‘Babylon’ is the latest single/video to be released from Sweden’s Normandie. The track is taken from the forthcoming stunning album, ‘Dark & Beautiful Secrets’ due out 19th February on Easy Life Records. “‘Babylon’ wasn’t supposed to happen” says singer Philip Strand. “With the covid restrictions, it landed us more time to dive into the studio again and play around with new ideas. The song came purely from just having fun and playing around using breaths and coughs as instruments”. He continues “I’ve been searching for my identity my entire life. Going from group to group, crowd to crowd, trying to fit in – finally, I realised that my true identity is something I should form myself”. “Are you following or falling out” is a line I wanted to use to express the way many of these groups behave. You’re either in or out. To me, identity is what you get when you mix all the things you identify with, bits and pieces that then become you as whole”. Soon, the wider world will bear witness [Read More]
