Calpurnia, overflowing with charisma delivers energetic set at legendary Fillmore in San Francisco

August 26, 2018

The Canadian indie rock band Calpurnia delivered a truly entertaining set last night at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. The 4-piece band was founded in 2017 and is led by Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in the highly acclaimed series Stranger Things. Finn met drummer Malcolm Craig on the set of a music video and the chemistry was immediate, adding Ayla Tesler-Mabe and Jack Anderson to the mix.  Together their passion for music was evident and highlighted through their music. They released their debut single “City Boy” on 7 March 2018. Last night at the SOLD OUT show the crowd was ready for a night of great music.  When we arrived, hours prior to the doors opening, the line of dedicated fans wrapped around over two city blocks. The elation raced through the crowds as the young fans could hardly contain their excitement. The night kicked off with a killer set by Spendtime Palace, a 5 piece rock band from Costa Mesa who won the crowd over instantly. Check out some photos of their set by [Read More]

July 26, 2018

The Drunken Hearts are an electrifying American Rock band from Colorado. They are currently on a California run of shows and you don’t want to miss them. Their music brings to life a blend of rock and country, that will have you toe tappin and rockin out! They will be performing Friday, July 27th at Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol, CA.  About The Drunken Hearts: From their humble inception as an acoustic trio, The Drunken Hearts have grown into an electric five-piece that is captivating audiences across the country. In those few years, the Colorado-based group has managed to make a name for itself in a state that is known for producing and cultivating world-class music. The band fearlessly bottles a tempestuous, yet honest brand of American music — infusing spirited vocals with electric and acoustic instruments, and crafting thoughtful songs that are resonating with crowds everywhere. Originally an outlet for lead singer and acoustic guitarist, Andrew McConathy, he knew the band needed to expand musically to satisfy his growing songbook of material. With their newest [Read More]

SPOTLIGHT BAND: Take a psychedelic ride with Bourgeois Mystics and their new video

July 26, 2018

Whether this week has got you reeling with work or worry, it is time to take a mental break. I have the perfect song/video to provide you with a psychedelic escape into a different realm.  The Electro Art/Rock band Bourgeois Mystics have released a creative video for their song Jaan Pehechan Ho and it is bad ass! About the video, ‘ “Jaan Pehechan Ho”  is a raucous take on the Bollywood classic by Mohammed Rafi (from the 1965 film, Gumnaam.) Much like the band, the video is a  brightly colored, eclectic and unique vision. it tells the tale of a future several hundred years after the internet’s demise, where an archaeological bootlegger has discovered content from the popular archaic video hub, YouTube, and edited the disparate clips to create a music video. This is that video.’ Check out the video here: The video was directed Diego Lozano  and produced by Zaalo. It is truly an artistic musical gem. I love the creativity and innovation that this band brings to their music. While other bands are trying to fit [Read More]

Spotlight Artist: Ferentz and The Felons have a story to tell with their soulful and inspiring music

April 2, 2018

We wanted to spotlight an impressive indie/folk rock band, Ferentz and The Felons. They just released their new debut EP,  Hudson County on April 1st and we are already hooked. The band features the music which is inspired from the life of frontman Zak Ferentz, who is also guitarist and songwriter.  Zak comments, “All of my music is inspired by my life, real situations that made me who I am. From watching my parents battle drug addiction to running the streets to earn a living, this is a story about urban America that is best described as “folk from the streets”. “ One thing is certain when you take a listen, you are immediately drawn to the story of the songs as Zak sings from the heart and his emotionally driven lyrics come to life. Each song revolves issues and emotions that so many have experienced and struggled with. The songs take a hold of you and provide the hope and strength to continue on and rise above. You are drawn to the journey of [Read More]
