Spotlight Band The Grape and The Grain release new video

Hold on tight, The Grape and The Grain are taking you on a wild ride!

Our new Spotlight Band The Grape and The Grain are here to take you on a rockin wild ride. They have just released their new music video for “Holy Rollin'”. The video captures straight up rock n roll with a side of swampy blues. As soon as you take a listen, you will be instantly hooked on their signature style of rock n roll. We need more of this!!! The track brings a nostalgic vibe of our love for 70’s era classic rock. Bassist Mo Kelly comments,

“If you ever fall from grace, just look inside and change”. ‘Holy Rollin’ is a song for anyone in the world finding themselves in strange times. Sometimes the best thing to do is to look inside to make a change. “Thick and thin, lose or win, I got your back like a brother”.

The music video was directed and edited by the bands drummer Steven Markota who says that the concept and style was inspired by the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test sessions and Rockpalast videos from the 70’s and 80’s. Steven comments,

“We set up a green screen in our practice space and filmed everyone’s individual performance a few times, loaded the files into the computer, and started poking around at ideas. I love all the Old Grey Whistle Test and the old Rockpalast videos and you always see some bootleg green screen effects. That was my inspiration for Holy Rollin’. No storyline, no gimmick, just rock and roll!”

More About The Grape and The Grain.

The band began in 2012 as a solo project for Daniel Grimsland (bassist for Woodstock, NY’s progressive rock band ‘3’). Seeking to challenge himself, Grimsland wrote, produced, and performed the entirety of his self released debut album “Better Keep Digging”. The album was an impressive collection of songs that blended Country with funk, hard rock, and the blues.

It wasn’t long before Grimsland recruited a band together and they started writing the sophomore self titled album. By this time, the band gained popularity in the area and the energy at the live show was palpable. The band started experimenting with a heavier sound and a cleaner production. They recorded the album in Woodstock, NY at Applehead Recording (Coheed And Cambria, Rich Robinson, Bad Brains) and released it via Boneshaker Records in 2013.

In 2014, TGATG went through member changes that brought in Daniel Marc on guitar, MO Kelly on bass, and Steven Markota (Nightmares For A Week) on drums and promised a new sound for TGATG, pushing Grimsland and new members’ approach to songwriting into uncharted territory. It wasn’t long before the band returned to Woodstock, NY to work on a their third release, “Holy Rollin” (Boneshaker Records). The band chose to work with D. James Goodwin (Craig Finn, Bob Weir, Murder By Death) who helped craft their vision of a modern classic rock sound.
