Gypsy punk rockers Butcher Knives release video for their infectious track, American Dream

It is often that you see the words ‘gypsy’ and ‘punk rock’ to describe a type of music. It is even rarer to find a band that has successfully earned that title but Brooklyn based Butcher Knives are quite deserving of it with their fresh musical fusion. They are a breath of fresh air and simply addictive! Butcher Knives have just released a new video for their song, American Dream which is off their album, Misery. The song is a true commentary as to what is the real American Dream. Check out the video here:

Brooklyn-based Butcher Knives release their video, “American Dream,” from their album Misery. “American Dream” is a commentary on the dissonance between the ideals that are sold to us by the media, the reality of living in America as an immigrant and America’s cultural perception and systemic treatment of its immigrants. America was built by immigrants. The very notion of an “illegal alien” contradicts the ideals on which America was founded. The only tangible difference between an “illegal alien” and an American-born “citizen” is a piece of paper. The music video for “American Dream,” directed and edited by Butcher Knives’ frontman, Nacho Segura, is a mixture of footage of Butcher Knivesperforming, interviews of immigrants and clips from newscasts. The band are a multilingual whirlwind of international musical and cultural movements, anchored to a high-octane punk rock aesthetic. With roots in Morocco, Israel, Colombia, New York, and New Orleans, Butcher Knives truly embody their multi-lingual, diverse, and multi-cultural sound and message with their album, Misery.
