I can still remember the time I saw Stabbing Westward, long ago in San Francisco. It was another Saturday night for me at the DNA Lounge which featured industrial and punk rock. It was Slave Unit and Stabbing Westward, I have to find my collection of ticket stubs to find the date, but nonetheless it was an amazing night! It was a time when many of my friends were frequenting the Palladium or other dance venues as I ventured out almost nightly in search of live music.  Damn, I loved Stabbing Westward and now I have a new (well, somewhat new) to love! The Dreaming.

The Dreaming reunites Stabbing Westward’s Walter Flakus (keyboards, programming) and Christopher Hall (lead singer) and they are set on reawakening everyone’s love for Stabbing Westward with their new band. The Dreaming also features  guitarist Carlton Bost (Orgy, Deadsy), bassistBrent Ashley (Static X) and one-time Stabbing Westward drummer Johnny Haro.  They are set to release their new album, Rise Again on February 10th, 2015 on Metropolis Records. Talk about an awesome birthday gift for me!

They have released the first single off their upcoming album, Alone and once you take a listen, you will hear the prominent signature sound of Flakus and Hall. It is a haunting track that I inexplicably find myself playing the song on repeat several times a week. You just find yourself floating away into a dreamlike state and the lyrics just grab a hold of you. The infectious chorus is like the single hand reaching out to you as you slip over the edge, saving you from yourself, or being left alone.  I am hooked on it and completely look forward to the album! So mark your calendars for February 10th and get ready to Rise Again with The Dreaming. Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news.
