Indie/electronic band Doombird stream new album

December 26, 2016

Indie/electronic band Doombird from Sacramento are streaming their new album Past Lives now on Soundcloud. The psychedelic synth-pop offering will be released via Gold Standard Records (owned by Artery Recordings) on 12/30 and includes tracks that were recently featured in the TV shows Blood & Oil (ABC), Stitchers (Freeform), How to Get Away with Murder (ABC), as well as the indie film I Live for You. “The album was created within a little over a year,” says vocalist Kris Anaya. “The theme we tried to capture was more of a dark dance electronic record with a haunting voice. The lyrical content within the record focuses mainly on my struggles with anxiety. Even while I was recording the record I was suffering with it. Mainly the inspirations fall in between a lot of Ambient music as well as Electronic Dance music i.e (Tim Hecker, Caribou, Bibio). I personally believe this record vibes well on a rainy day or when you are taking a hike in the woods.” Anaya (who is also the former frontman of the [Read More]

Day 24 on our NAMM Countdown: Emily Faith to perform on NAMM Hilton Stage

December 24, 2016

Day 24 we invite you to check out Emily Faith as she performs on the NAMM Hilton Stage on Thursday, January 19th at 11:00 AM. At first glance, Emily Faith might seem like many other typical teen girls – growing up in a small town; spending her time attending school, playing basketball, cheerleading, and working with her church youth group.   But a closer look will reveal that she is anything but typical.  Blessed with an extraordinary voice and love for music she began entertaining at a very young age.  Unlike many teen artist who stick with one style of music – she began exploring and embracing many different musical genres at an early age; which led to the development of her own unique style – a mix of Pop, Country, and Americana.  Music professionals have pushed her to define her style into one genre.  She quickly and politely responds to them; “I am starting out my career as a cross over artist – I don’t want to be defined by one particular [Read More]

Interview with Finn Bell of the 90’s grunge-infused alt rockers Love Ghost!

December 23, 2016

We recently featured a new favorite band of ours, the 90’s grunge-infused alt/rockers Love Ghost. The Los Angeles band was formed 15-year-old frontman Finn Bell and the band features teenagers who are well beyond their years with their music. They bring out our love of 90’s grunge but blended with alt rock and a modern sound. Finn who is the lead vocalist and lyricist highlights his songwriting by taking you on an emotional journey. He describes his process as a continuous stream of consciousness, drawn from his emotional response. Bell expresses ‘It’s a shame that people tend to shy away from anything that feels too personal, because those types of things let you know who you really are.’ We recently had a chance to chat with Finn Bell and are pleased to share our interview with you here: * * * * * * * *  Music Junkie Press: Did you or do you have a strong musical program in your schools that fostered your love for music? Finn: No, not as much. I learned [Read More]

Day 25 on our NAMM Countdown: Throwback to conversation conversation with bluesman David M’Ore: Passion, Soul and Fire.

December 23, 2016

(Anaheim, CA) Guitar pyrotechnics are no longer rare in blues or rock these days.  Most lead guitarists can and do shred hot licks in the middle of blues and rock songs, giving audiences a bit of an electric thrill. But there is a difference between hot and heavy guitar shredding and chops that come from the heart and not just the fingers. One delivers electricity, the other delivers emotion along with the energy.  This is what David M’Ore does;  he delivers 6-string heart and lightening like no one else. His guitar playing and his corrugated voice encapsulate decades of blues, rock, R&B, acid, metal – everything about music that pierces the heart as well as the muscles.  You can dance to M’Ore’s blues, but you can also meditate to them.   Some call him a mystical guitar man from a bygone era. But this Argentine-born, world-raised virtuoso guitarist and singer/songwriter is in many ways on the cutting edge of the modern blues movement. He has created a blues style with his custom-made Fender Strats  that [Read More]

VIDEO: Dan Davidson releases video for newest single, Barn Burner

December 22, 2016

Dan Davidson has released the highly entertaining Official Music Video for his newest single, “Barn Burner.” Filmed in downtown Tokyo, and directed by Travis Nesbitt (Design By Komputer) with Assistant Director Russ Dawson, “Barn Burner” follows a distinctively Western dressed Davidson contrasting with the Japanese street culture surrounding him.  Check out the video here:   Dan comments about the video, The song really came at me from out of nowhere (as some of the best ones seem to do). I was at the park with my baby girls and just started singing that first line of the chorus in my head. The line was inspired by watching my pal Brett Kissel play a show and he said something to the crowd to the effect of “This next tune is a real barn burner!”… and something about that expression stuck with me. I started thinking about all the fun times you have growing up trying to find bush parties (especially if you grew up in a small town) and really living in those carefree moments [Read More]
