Holding Absence release new song ‚Gravity’

March 27, 2020

Welsh post-rock quartet HOLDING ABSENCE have released a music video for new track “Gravity”. The track will be available on a limited 7” picture disc LP, which also features an additional brand-new track “Birdcage”. Due for an April 17th release, the LP is available exclusively at www.holdingabsence.com. The video, which brilliantly showcases the band’s monochromatic aesthetic, was directed by Zak Pinchin. The band recorded both tracks at Longwave Studios, Cardiff with producer Romesh Dodangoda (BRING ME THE HORIZON, TWIN ATLANTIC), mixing duties were handled by Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (ARCHITECTS, PERIPHERY) and mastered by Jens Bogren (DEVIN TOWNSEND, OPETH, LOATHE). On the new single and video, vocalists Lucas Woodland comments: “We’re ecstatic to be releasing ‘Gravity’ today – We feel like it’s a real step forward in maturity and quality for our band! The song was originally going to be put on our sophomore album but, after our VISA’s got denied and our US tour got cancelled, we decided we should make the best of a bad situation and work towards getting it out as soon [Read More]

GroundCulture release new track ‚Trauma Can Teach’

March 26, 2020

UK-based band GroundCulture released a brand-new track today, ‘Trauma Can Teach’. Check it out here: “In 2017, my girlfriend took her own life. I can’t physically put into words how this made me feel. My outlook on life completely changed that day. I could have turned to alcohol or drugs, but I luckily enough realised early on that nothing can change what happened. I focused all my emotion into writing music, as it seemed to be the only thing that stopped me from losing myself. I still struggle with this every day, I have anxiety attacks every day, but I try to not let it control me. I’m grateful to have life, family, friends and music. Never let your traumas define you as a person.” – Mattie (guitar) They share this and other stories on Youtube of people that experienced great traumas in their life and found a way to overcome them. The band’s debut record ‘How Well Do You Really Know Yourself?’ will be released through Hopeless Records on May 1st. Pre-orders can [Read More]

In Hearts Wake share new song after three years

March 22, 2020

Australian metalcore band In Hearts Wake released their newest song ‘Worldwide Suicide’ a few days ago. It is a direct and passionate statement against ecological and social injustice. With ‘ECOCIDE IS SUICIDE’ as one of the main messages, it’s supposed to show everyone that it’s time for positive actions now. Ecocide is the extensive damage to, destruction of or loss of ecosystem(s) of a given territory, whether by human agency or by other causes, to such an extent that peaceful enjoyment by the inhabitants of that territory has been or will be severely diminished. (proposed amendment to the Rome Statute by environmental lawyer Polly Higgins) “With 69.2 f (20,7 C) the Antarctic reached an all-time high. The Australian bushfires burned down over 12 million hectares of land and over one billion animals were killed. The climate crisis is coming and we have to react, as long as it can be averted. It is time for a profound system change and modifications on a personal and collaborative level.” ~ Jake Taylor (vocals) The drum’n’bass intro, which [Read More]

Friday Music Fix: Killin’ Candace release two new tracks!

March 20, 2020

Killin’ Candace recently released two new tracks that you can check out. With so many of us on quarantine or lockdown, checking out new music can definitely keep us all sane. The first track is Straight From The Underground and Vocalist/Guitarist Aaron Lee tells us about the new music: Straight From the Underground is definitely a rockin’ anthem for today’s times. Can you tell us about how and when you wrote the song? Thank you, that was definitely the idea – to give it more of an “anthem-like” feel, and i’m glad you dig it! I started writing the song around May of last year, but I actually had the intro/outro guitar lick idea in my head for a while, however  it was just more of a catchy, warm up technique and riff i’d play. I never could quite figure out where I wanted to go with it, so that riff sat around for probably two years before i decided to incorporate it and expand on it. I remember working on getting the chorus lyrics together because [Read More]
