Day 6 of 12 Days of Bands You Have To Know is for Switchblade Serenade

December 14, 2013

Today we are on our Day 6 of 12 Days of Bands You Have To Know and the honor goes to Switchblade Serenade. My son Rockin Ryan introduced me to them earlier this year. Every time he would play them, I would always about who is that band? I love them and their straight up rock n roll. As you know ’80s rock is finally making a comeback. I call it ’80s on replay style rock n roll.  Switchblade Serenade definitely are doing it right and delivering some great style ’80s rock but with an updated sound. They have the rocker look and the musical talent to back it up! Check out one of my favorite songs by them, Switchblade Susie here:   Switchblade Serenade is Austin Jaser on Guitar and Lead Vocals, Luke Barone on Drums and Vocals and Ed Mandevil on Bass and Vocals.  These three young guys bring a great big sound that you have to take notice of. They are from New Haven, CT and you can definitely feel their musical influences such as [Read More]

Day 5 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to Delta Rose

December 13, 2013

Today on Day 5 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to the bad ass rockers who were our featured band of Warped Tour 2013…. Delta Rose! These guys truly know how to bring the old school rock and roll back to life with their young vibrant personalities that you can’t help but fall in love with.  They are also one of the hardest working bands out there. You can catch them playing shows on the Sunset Strip at The Viper Room or  House of Blues where they truly belong. If you can imagine Sunset Strip back in the ’80s and all the great rock bands during that time, well Delta Rose definitely channels those bands as they bring their energy and high spirited stage antics to life when they perform live.  You will think you took a trip back in time. We had the opportunity earlier this year to interview Delta Rose right out on the Sunset Strip before their show at The Viper Room for the Revolver Golden Gods [Read More]

Day 4 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to False Puppet

December 12, 2013

Today is Day 4 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. We have a great young band from Santa Barbara, False Puppet.  False Puppet is Tyler Benko on Guitar / Vocals, Channing Peake on Bass / Vocals and Brennan Benko on Drums. There may be only three of them but they create a big sound. Their music has an alternative edge to it but equally rocks and has some great punk influences. They definitely have many layers to their music and it completely draws you in. They caught me off guard because they are so young and yet amazingly talented. You can check out their recently released video for their single, “What You Do To Me” here:   I love that song, it takes you from alternative style right in to some heavier guitars.  You can pick up their EP Far Out which is available on Itunes here. Another one of my favorite songs is Tonight We Run Away. The intro is bad ass on it and the vocals just literally wrap around you like [Read More]

Day 3 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know is Whisky Blood

December 11, 2013

Today we are celebrating Day 3 of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. I have a kick ass rock band for you from London; Whisky Blood.  They describe themselves as playing, ‘STRAIGHT UP, NO BULLSHIT, ROCK N’ ROLL!” Believe me, when you take a listen, you will definitely agree with them.  I love them. Whisky Blood is Jamie Sloane on Vocals, Guitar, Paul Kixx on Guitar, and Vincent Velazco on Drums. They are currently in the process of finding a permanent bassist. These guys deliver an upgraded version of ’80s rock to life and are the complete package with their 80’s inspired looks, and spot on rock n’ roll. Jamie on vocals reminds me of a blend of Josh Todd from Buckcherry and Austin WInkler of Hinder. Their music brings me back to my firsts love; old school ’80s rock like Ratt, Skid Row, L.A. Guns, Firehouse, the list can go on and on.  But what is great is that Whisky Blood have added their own style and in no way, imitate. You will be [Read More]

Day 2 of 12 Bands You Have to Know goes to Burnos!

December 10, 2013

Today is our 2nd Day of 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know and I have a great treat for you. How about the awesome music of Burnos which delivers kick ass rock with their new song, “Octane”. Burnos is Melissa Burnos on Vocals, Eric Friedman (Creed, Tremonti, Projected) on Guitars, Garrett Whitlock (Tremonti) on Drums and Brian Weaver on Bass.  I have been listening to them on XM Sirius Octane channel and everytime they come on, I can’t help but be fully adrenalized by their high energy octane driven (pun intened, ha) rock. Melissa delivers strong yet clean vocals that take a hold of you. Garrett gives us precision fueled drumming, Brian is a bad ass on bass and you can’t help but love Eric as he shreds on his solo.  Their song has us wanting more and more! You can pick up their song Octane on Itunes here  and make sure to crank it up loud!  You will definitely be hearing a lot from Burnos and stay tuned….I am excited to hear what is next.   [Read More]

12 Days of Bands You Have to Know starts with Centerlink!

December 9, 2013

So here we are again, that time of year where you not  only get in the holiday spirit, shopping mode but also a time to appreciate new music! This year we are starting our 12 Days a bit early so you can make sure to pick up the music in time to give or enjoy. Today we start one of our 12 Day Features…. 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know. Day 1 starts right now with the heavy rock trio Centerlink from Boston.  We wrote about them earlier this year and you can read that post here. To relive that moment when I first listened to Centerlink….. “I went to watch it and was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously just BLOWN AWAY. I thought I had found the lost recording of Metallica of 1985! I went back to check the message so I could see the band name only to see David’s response to them about how the singer had some Hettfield in him! Oh ya, we were on the same wavelength! It was like true old [Read More]
