Day 10 is Jettblack for 12 Days of Christmas Rock

December 21, 2012

12 Days of Rock Christmas! Day 10  On the 10th day of Christmas my Rock and Roll love gave to me some off the hook hard rock with Jettblack from across the pond. Okay my 80’s and 90’s Rock lovers out there, here is another awesome high powered, energy driven rock band that you are going to fall in love with. I promise on this one! These guys deliver the goods and by the way, it is so nicely packaged… Jettblack are four rockers from High Wycombe, England and started back in 2007.  They have cited their influences as “Anything up until 1994”.  Well these guys have been touring Europe and we are waiting for our turn to Rock out to this fantastic band.  Their music has everything from hot guitar licks, smoking riffs, melodic chorus, heavy basslines and rockin drums. Then you add all the incredible vocals and in time you are rocking heavy and asking yourself why didn’t you hear these guys sooner.  Well better, sooner than never. Jettblack is Will Stapleton on Vocals, Guitar, Tom [Read More]

Day 9 brings CrashDiet for 12 Days of Christmas Rock!

December 20, 2012

12 Days of Rock Christmas! Day 9  On the 9th day of Christmas my Rock and Roll love gave to me some sexy glam rock from Crashdiet.  I have been transported back in my time machine and I am walking down the Sunset Strip in the mid 1980’s. Up and down the strip I can catch a show, anything from Glam Metal, Hair Bands, or even some Punk shows. I have my favorite pair of fringed white Zodiac Boots, bright zebra print top and my short pink skirt. Of course I have my hair in my high upstyle and tons of hairspray. I am ready to check out some bands and rock out. That is what Crashdiet brings back to me. All my favorite memories of partying and rocking out in the 80’s but now I can enjoy that same feeling while listening to this Swedish “sleaze rock” band. They are like that second shot of whiskey, it feels great but be prepared for some fun and trouble. I have had some deep discussions with others [Read More]

12 Days of Rock Christmas starts with Heaven’s Basement!

December 12, 2012

12 Days of Rock Christmas!   Day 1 On the first day of Christmas, my Rock and Roll love gave to me, down and dirty hard rock sound by Heaven’s Basement!  This band from England is going to be on the tip of all your tongues in 2013, mark my words.   These four guys have a stadium rock sound that needs to be unleashed here in the States. They deliver rock  that has just received 1000 volts of power. Caution! The defibrillator paddles have been brought out and just brought old school Rock and Roll ALIVE!!! Heaven’s Basement has invigorated music and it is exactly what we need more of. They are just getting back to England from touring Europe and treating those lucky concertgoers to melt your face ROCK! During their European tour, they were sharing the stage with Seether, Halestorm, Papa Roach, Shinedown, Duff McKagan and Buckcherry. Heaven’s Basement was formed in 2008 and is currently signed with Red Bull Records. Actually, their new single, “Nothing to Lose” is the official soundtrack [Read More]

Adler breathes new life into Rock ‘n Roll!

December 4, 2012

It is finally here! Yes, the long wait is over. The debut record of Adler titled “Back from the Dead” has been released. This album was produced by Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, Dokken). There is even guest appearances by Steven’s former Guns ‘n Roses bandmate; Slash and the great John 5 formerly of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. The singles “The One That you Hated” and  “Good to be Bad” have been all over the airwaves. This album is filled with great rock and roll and has everything we have been waiting to hear. It is not going to be a surprise if this album puts out more than a handful of hit singles. It is great to have an album once again where you want to buy the complete album and you listen to it from beginning to end. These days everyone seems to be buying singles or only getting to hear a couple songs from an album. Well on this one, you can’t do that because you will miss so many great songs. It [Read More]

A Warm Embrace from Barcelona

November 13, 2012

Barcelona Barcelona is an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington formed around 2005 and I wish I had heard of them sooner. But I am glad that I do have them now in my regular playlist. Barcelona opened up for Blue October (full review here) on Saturday night (Nov. 10, 2012) and they put on an exceptional show. Their sound is piano based harmonies wrapped with edges of rock interlaced. They remind me of The Fray, Augustana or Throwing Ivory which are also some of my favorites. Brian Fennell is on piano and also provides the exceptional emotionally charged vocals. Chris Bristol beautifully entertains us on guitars and backing vocals while we get our energy recharged by Rhett Stonelake. They currently have their new CD out, “Not Quite Yours” which holds some of my favorites like “Only Son”, ‘Evermore” and “Change”. You can get their CD or my preference the Vinyl straight from their website or if you must download, they also offer that direct from their site.  While you are at it, you will [Read More]

It is time to make some noise for A Silent Film

November 12, 2012

A Silent Film is a powerhouse quartet from Oxford, UK that took me by surprise on Saturday night. I went to see Blue October play at The Regency Ballroom and you can read my full review from that show here. A Silent Film was one of the opening bands and I am sure glad that I got there in time to watch their whole set. These guys were incredible. I was up sitting in the balcony area and gathering my notes for my review and as soon as they hit the stage, I literally got up and had to get downstairs onto the floor and to see if what I was hearing was accurate! I swear for a second there I was taken back to the first time that I listened to U2 as a teenager and became enmeshed with Alternative Rock. It was the sweet lyrics, uptempo beat, melodic harmonies all drawing me in once again. I stood there and my mind was flooded with some of my favorite acts coming to mind; Jack’s [Read More]
