Zach Sobiech and his gift of music with "Clouds"

December 18, 2012

Zach Sobiech Here at Music Junkie Press, we have always been firm believers that Music is the healer of the soul, mender of broken hearts, rainbow in the storm and a true friend. I even have the motto, “Know Music = Know Life, No Music = No Life” on my cards and as my personal way of life.  Some other well known quotes about music, some old and some new: “Without music, life would be a mistake.”  ― Friedrich Nietzsche “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” ― Bob Marley “People haven’t always been there for me but music always has.” ― Taylor Swift “Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” ― Maya Angelou “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” ― Victor Hugo Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.  – Ludwig van Beethoven  Music is the shorthand of emotion.  – Leo Tolstoy  Also one of my main questions when I interview musicians has always [Read More]

Fresh new Hard Rock with Red9

December 7, 2012

It was less than a week ago that I was treated to the music of Red9.  They were chosen by Slash himself to open for him at his show at the Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles on December 2, 2012.  They were great! I always love checking out the opening bands and I end up finding some of my favorite new music that way.  Red9 is a Southern California rock trio. Just because there are only 3, does not mean they do not deliver a huge sound! These guys are a powerhouse of rock and adrenaline. Red9 is Paul ‘Friz” Frislie on guitars, Giovanni ‘Gio” Fuentes and Jeff on bass and vocals. Together they create a true rock sound and I am hoping for a Bay Area show soon. I am going to need my Red9 Fix! They have a sound similar to Tool and a grungier Nine Inch Nails. Jeff on bass really captivates you with his exploding bass lines and his vocals. Paul just exudes energy while he is ripping out blazing riffs. Gio [Read More]

Adler breathes new life into Rock ‘n Roll!

December 4, 2012

It is finally here! Yes, the long wait is over. The debut record of Adler titled “Back from the Dead” has been released. This album was produced by Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, Dokken). There is even guest appearances by Steven’s former Guns ‘n Roses bandmate; Slash and the great John 5 formerly of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. The singles “The One That you Hated” and  “Good to be Bad” have been all over the airwaves. This album is filled with great rock and roll and has everything we have been waiting to hear. It is not going to be a surprise if this album puts out more than a handful of hit singles. It is great to have an album once again where you want to buy the complete album and you listen to it from beginning to end. These days everyone seems to be buying singles or only getting to hear a couple songs from an album. Well on this one, you can’t do that because you will miss so many great songs. It [Read More]

From Rocky Roads to Royal Bliss!

October 19, 2012

It is time to enjoy some Royal Bliss! These guys have been around for over 13 years and are a true to rock and roll band from Salt Lake City. Over the years, they have had their share of bumps in the road which includes near death experiences, serious accidents, totaled cars, label changes and so much more. One thing remained constant for them, their passion for their music and staying true to themselves. This shows more than ever with their recent CD/Album Release, “Waiting out the Storm” which is their first release on their own record label, “AIR Castle Records”.  This album truly is all their own creation now that they are on their own label. I love it from it’s harder edgy sound to the emotion driven rock that each song brings out. We had a chance to talk with Neal Middleton, lead vocalist and guitars from the band.  So sit back and get to know Royal Bliss. Music Junkie Press:    Thank you Neal for taking the time out to talk with [Read More]

Get your Rock and Roll Fix with Shotgun Harlot!

September 26, 2012

Sometimes with music today, I long to hear down and dirty ROCK n ROLL!! You know what I am talking about, right? The kind of Rock that has you with your fists in the air, drink in the other hand and just raising some hell with your friends. Those were the good days but wait, they don’t have to be in the past. There is a great band that I saw last month, Shotgun Harlot when they opened up for 12 Stones at the historical Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. You can revisit my review of that night here: “‘Get Infected with 12 Stones”.  That was an awesome night and I really fell in love with Shotgun Harlot. Well I recently had the opportunity to interview Dylan D. Waltz lead singer of the band and here is what he had to say: Music Junkie Press:     How and when did Shotgun Harlot come together? Dylan Waltz:   I was in the process of piecing together a new band when a mutual friend of Joe and [Read More]

The Kinected
80s

Have you been Kinected yet?

August 25, 2012

The 80’s not only had some great Rock and Roll but it also provided a time to enjoy New Wave and Modern Rock music. Well those times are long gone…. But guess what, there is a great new band out there called The Kinected  that is bringing it all back to life, blended with their own unique sound that is taking the airwaves by storm. It is great feel good music that reminds me of the first time I heard Pet Shop Boys or Duran Duran. They have an amazing  sound that is a fresh blend of rock, pop,  funk and an electro edge. There first single “Hypnotize” from their new album titled Evolution #9 has been dominating airplay on XM Sirius Channel 3 “20 on 20”. It will have you moving and wanting more and more! The Kinected is Ron Anthony on vocals, Alex Zapatier on guitar, Mike B on bass and Marck Mangel on drums. I had the opportunity to interview vocalist Ron Anthony who has such a smooth voice on this album. Here [Read More]
