September 17, 2015

From the heart of New York with a hard rock soul, SYKA is here to rock your radio! Recently they’ve released their EP “Stay Wild” and are blowing up venues all around NYC. Drift & Die Press got to talk with frontwoman Jesyka for a bit! Drift & Die Press: Give me a quick rundown of your members! Jesyka – Vocals Gregg Sgar – Guitar Gino Martine – Bass Steve Richards – Drums DND: In a mainly male dominated genre, having a female lead can give you an extra edge. It can also cause some struggles and discrimination. Can you give any advice to young girls wanting to become musicians, but are too intimidated by the nature of the industry? Jesyka: Do what you love. Stay Wild. If you’re meant for the world of music, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female. You can be whatever you imagine. DND: What is the biggest stereotype you find yourself fighting, and how do you overcome it? Jesyka: Many people throw us into the ‘female fronted metal’ [Read More]

August 9, 2015

From the San Francisco area, Alliances is a new band with a refreshing sound! They’re working hard to create new modern rock music for your ears. Drift & Die Press recently spoke with the band about their newest release, hopes for the future, and more! DND: Where are you guys from? Benny Laing: Were all from different parts of the S.F. Bay area in California. DND: How’s the local scene for you? Benny: Right now our local scene is a little oversaturated with hardcore bands, and shifty booking agents, but it’s nothing new to us. We’ve all come from different bands from around the area and have been very active in the local music scene for years now. We’re hoping to stand out with our unique rock style and live performance. DND: What’s your favorite gig you’ve played so far? Jeremy Alfonso: We just released our first album ever in June and have only played one debut show so far at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. So that one is def our favorite haha. [Read More]

Interview with Beyond The Fallen by Meryl DeWitt of Drift N Die Press

July 29, 2015

Straight out of Vatican City, Beyond The Fallen is a new band for your ears and eyes! This industrialcore act brings an intense sound and insane stage presence. Covered in paint and theatrics, they spread the best kind of terror throughout Rome. Drift & Die Press recently had the chance to speak with the band about their scheme, inspirations, and more. DND: When and how was Beyond The Fallen formed?  Kaiten: Beyond The Fallen comes from the ashes of a previous project that Joy and I created in the past. It took a very brief period of brainstorming for us to recruit the right people to form the band and the crew, and that happened a year ago….the band’s pretty new. A thing we’re so proud of. DND: What’s the story behind the band’s name? Kaiten: We were discussing religious topics and this definition came out. To define something underneath the subterranean levels of hell, to define something beyond Lucifer himself. What’s worst than Evil itself? What’s Beyond The Fallen? DND: Who’s the band trouble-marker? [Read More]

Interview with Hall of the Elders contributed by Meryl DeWitt

March 17, 2015

Coming from Atlanta’s local scene, we bring you a new band for your ears, Hall of the Elders! Describing themselves as a mix of heavy metal and rock n roll, they bring a new and interesting sound to the scene! Drift N Die Press recently interviewed the band’s lead singer, Mark Jackson, about the band’s influences, history, and future!   Drift N Die: What’s the general concept & mission of your band? Mark Jackson: When all bands start out, I feel like the goal is just to play awesome music for lots of fans and grow from there.  That was our plan when we started because we were uncertain of what we wanted to do. Nowadays, we have a clearer objective of reaching out to a fan base that is often overlooked.  You have heavy bands, and you have rock-oriented bands.  It’s really “black & white”, so we are trying to target the gray area and incorporate a mix of heavy music and colorful rock styles.  Some bands out there already do this, but there [Read More]
