Roses and Revolutions at the Hotel Café: their bright future is here and now by Patrick O’Heffernan

May 22, 2014

The duo of Alyssa Coco and Matt Merritt, known as Roses and Revolutions played the 9 pm set last night at LA’s famed showcase club Hotel Café and proved they are even more fun live than on their superb recordings.  The crowd of about 50 or so fans – not bad for a Tuesday night – had been warmed up nicely by the humor and tunes of Eliza Rickman.  As they loaded Alyssa’s Yamaha keyboard and Matt’s acoustic and electric guitars on stage, a record producer and talent scout quietly slipped into the room. The equipment set up, tuned and ready to go, Alyysa, brilliant in a white brocade bodice and very short multilayered flared skirt greeted the audience, joked about assuring her grandmother that the skirt was not really too short (it was close)  and opened with “Home”.  The song  is a contemplative pop ballad embroidered with piano and Matt’s skillful instrumentation that the pair wrote for their first album, Earth and Everything. Alyssa’s Norah Jones-like voice filled the room and got everyone’s immediate [Read More]

An Interview with Shattered Sun at the Whisky a GoGo in Hollywood

May 21, 2014

Just a couple days ago we told you about how we were able to catch  Shattered Sun perform at the Whisky A GoGo, opening for legendary rockers, Skid Row. You can read more about that night here.  It was an awesome show! This band is never short on energy. They came out delivering a fresh new style of heavy thrash metal with emotionally driven lyrics that captivate the listener and immediately draw them into the Shattered Sun family.  What is awesome to see is a full band complete with two guitarists and keys. It really does complete the sound and takes their music to greater depths and adds many layers to enjoy. We were able to talk with the band prior to their set and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:   Shattered Sun was the first band to be signed to Breaking Bands Management which is the directed and founded by the powerhouse team of Adrenaline PR CEO Maria Ferrero, former MegaForce Records and Crazed Management owners Jon and Marsha Zazula, and Testament vocalist and co-manager Chuck Billy. Chuck made it out to [Read More]

An interview with the amazing guitarist, Jackson of (hed) P.E.

May 21, 2014

We recently brought you our coverage from the Born To Ride 2 Tour with SOiL and (hed) P.E.   Both bands were amazing and make sure you check out all our coverage on them.  (hed) P.E.  is really one of the most energetic bands out there today. If you asked five different people what type of music  (hed) P.E. is, you just might end up with five very different answers. There is something so special about this band because making the music they want to hear and making what feels right is exactly what they do. They do not try and re-invent themselves or make carbon copy sound alike albums. Their creativity shines through each of their varied styles of music through songs. The styles may range from rasta, punk, reggae, soul, rap, rock, metal, and so much more. One thing is for sure, their music is definitely one that is deserving of your attention. Their set was intense as the audience was literally in a non stop mosh pit from start to finish. What a great night! We had the opportunity [Read More]
