Number Station

It is finally here!! The wait is over and you have to get your copy of Number Station‘s new EP. I had told you about them a few months ago and are proud to say that I just picked up the new EP and it is everything they promised it would be. I LOVE IT!  I am cranking it up loud now, and it just delivers intensity, adrenaline fused alternative rock that will take over your senses!  Here is my old post as well as an update with the new songs:

Sometimes you just need your music a bit heavier!! Well if now is that time, Number Station is the band for you. I recently got their EP sampler sent over and it was one of those rare moments. Those moments when I was in the middle of multitasking a hundred things at once, going over the list of things to have to get done and then popping the CD in. The first song that played was “The Invisible Fire” which has a great dark mysterious intro that just blends into a deep hardcore mix. It is like waking yourself up from a long sleep and seeing that you only have a few hours left of the day. So you wake up and give it all you got, energized and ready to scream out to the world. You are full blown energy ready to take on anything and you give everything of yourself. This song just gives and gives!  Here you can take a listen to that incredible song:

Then you get into the next song, “Deadline” which seriously makes me think of what The Cure or Catherine Wheel would be like today in the music scene. Their very best marbled with some heavier bass and increased intensity. It has a more alternative post punk feel that I just love. It reminds me of many great times in San Francisco during the early ’90s and enjoying what was then known as “hard alternative rock” at DV8, Paradise Lounge, etc. Truly an innovative song that keeps you engaged throughout. This song is going to really have a lot of people remembering their past but at the same time making a new sound for the younger generation to enjoy and be part of as well.

“‘Alchemists Kings” has a really off the the hook energetic intro, raising the intensity by marrying it perfectly with mysterious vocals at times. Next up is the great work of “The Occupied Movement”  that I can see being a very popular anthemic song with emotionally driven lyrics. It really is catchy but yet with just enough attitude!  ‘”Lucy”  brings on the energy once again and the Smiths feel at times. Damn, I love this band. Guitars on this one are incredible and the vocals once again deliver that dark soul touching emotion. You can seriously really get into the song and just feel it overtake you.

Number Station is fronted by Ean Clevenger on vocals who I swear sometimes gives me shivers because he reminds me so much of  Rob Dickinson which is one of my all time favorites. You then get Therron Francis and Barry Crider on guitar, Pat Freeman on bass and Jonathan Barklage on drums. Together they are incredible and if they bring fresh new take on some of my favorite music. I can really see them taking the music industry by storm because not only do they remind us 40 something fans of the alternative rock scene of what we miss so much, they also add something new to it that brings an updated sound for another generation to enjoy. I can imagine that their fan base will have a wide age span and once again; music will bring generations together.

So whatever age you, this EP is one to add to your playlist. I will keep you updated as to any upcoming tour dates. For now, make sure to head over to Itunes or CDBaby to get your copy! Get ready to have your energy level just spike as you listen to them. I need to make “The Invisible Fire” the song on my alarm clock so I can wake up every day in a Cranked to 11 Mood but then again… maybe Deadline would be perfect…. or oh hell!! I will just have to start the day listening to the whole EP, then I will be ready to go. Check them out and let me know what you think.

~ Enjoy! Marisol
