Skull Jack dishing up some Heavy Metal, southern style!

When I think of Tennessee, I tend to think of the music scene that it gives us, but most particularly country artists. After listening to Skull Jack, I will now be grateful for the hard rock/metal scene that has developed. Skull Jack was formed in 2009 by guitarist Dale Sheppard and in the short time since, have accomplished many things. They had won Nashville’s Best New Metal Band award in 2011 and went through an almost complete lineup change. They now have a strong solid group with Eddie Walker on drums, Ryan Lessard on vocals, and Kevin Buttler on Bass. These four guys each started in music at quite a young age. Together with their combined experience have created their unique sound of hard rock, metal and a touch of Southern Rock. After Dale and Eddie working together to write new material, what they completed is a strong sound 3 track Demo. Top 25 Cover/Remake Songs You have to know!

I have always loved cover songs, most specifically cover songs that I end up liking even better than their original. During many of my my interviews with bands, one of my favorite questions I ask is if they could take a song from any other genre and turn it into their own, what would it be? I have had some great responses, like Jettblack rockers doing a cover of Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero“, or Wratchchild doing a cover of the Beach Boys, “California Girls” or A Story Beneath doing a cover of the Mamas and the Papas, “California Dreamin“. Those are all remakes that I hope get made. What I really like is when an artists takes the original song and completely makes it their own, truly owns it and not just imitates. An old friend with a new name, get to know Like Monroe

I wanted to tell you about a great band that I have been enjoying, A Candle Lit City but they have recently announced a name change due to member changes and new music. So I would like to introduce you to an old friend A Candle Lit City which is now under the name Like Monroe. Coming from Houston, Texas they are delivering alternative rock with a metal edge. This years Warped Tour has had so many great bands to check out. One that is playing the entire Warped Tour that you cannot miss is Art of Shock. Coming from Los Angeles, this Alternative/Aggressive Rock band is tearing up the stages and you can’t help but take notice of them. Do you remember the first time you were at a concert and you were blown away by the opening band? Like seriously just excited to find out more about them and to get hooked on their music? Well that is what it was like for many fans who went out to see CrashDiet at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco this past Monday (March 25, 2013). Out on tour with CrashDiet and opening up for them that night were the hard rockers from Montreal, Canada, Snakeskyn Whiskey. These four guys deliver in your face aggressive rock and roll with non stop energy.
