Interview with Full Moon Rising; a truly heartwarming musical project

Music has always been that special friend that I can turn to in times of trouble, times of celebration or just plain anytime!  Music truly has a magical effect on me and I love when the first time I hear some music, it truly touches my soul and makes a positive impact on me. Recently for me, that music has been of Full Moon Rising. I learned about Full Moon Rising shortly after we ran our interview with Raz Klinghoffer of EarlyRise. Full Moon Rising is an International Music Project by the highly talented Daniel Tyler Pohnke. Shortly after losing his mother in 2000, Daniel was inspired to write his first song. That was the beginning of the heartwarming and soul touching journey of Daniel’s music. Quick Wicked from Canada is a MUST HEAR BAND!!!

Energy. Depth. Intensity. Bliss…. That is what you will get when you take a listen to Quick Wicked out of Brantford, Ontario, Canada. I heard them tonight and was blown away. They have some great bass intro lines that just captivate you and the vocals are amazing as is the guitar and drums. They are definitely adding layers to their progressive rock and making their own unique sound.  Quick Wicked is Kyle Love, Kevin French, Rob Eddy, Jeff Love. Check out Slack Armada for some mystical instrumental music!

Chicago solo artist Slack Armada releases his new EP of mystical instrumental music reminiscent of early shoegaze electronica. James Hrabak is the founder and creator of Slack Armada and did not only all the instruments but all the production of recording, mixing and mastering on this four song self titled EP. James literally brings the music to life without vocals and tells stories with each songs that float through your mind. James explains more about not using vocals, “The absence of vocals wasn’t a conscious decision at the beginning, As I was building up the tracks, I thought ‘Maybe I can make the music speak to somebody without the additional guide of a human voice.’ I wanted to let the listener be transported with fewer guideposts.”  Well he truly succeeded in that manner and it is quite a journey that he takes you on. Throwback Thursday Music Feature is The Spent Poets

We all have our photos of us ready for Throwback Thursday filled with big hair, 80’s outfits, MC Hammer pants, flashdance shirts and so much more…. But what about the music? We need to have a Throwback Thursday Music Feature and here it is…. our first one. For my Throwback Thursday Music, is none other than The Spent Poets. I LOVED THIS BAND! I used to hang out at Paradise Lounge and DNA Lounge in San Francisco during the late ’80s and early ’90s and that is how I first found out about them. I think I first saw them when they were playing at the DNA Lounge and I picked up their self titled debut CD. Every single song became my fave. They had such a unique sound! DRAMARAMA to play at Whisky-a-Go-Go 50th Anniversary Party!

Earlier this year we brought you an interview with one of the most influential bands of my life, DRAMARAMA. You can check ou that interview here. The Pretty Reckless release incredible new song, Heaven Knows!

I just got back from running errands and I had a very special treat! I had the opportunity to listen to the new song by The Pretty Reckless, “Heaven Knows”. They debuted the song this morning on Sirius XM Octane channel (funny since I cancelled by XM last month because they cancelled Sixx Sense channel and I still get it free for the next month). DAMN this song is AMAZING!  It has an old school rock circa Joan Jett/Runaways vibe and the catchiest sing along part on the air today. The song will become available for purchase on Itunes on Tuesday November 19th! Taylor has truly proven to be a Rock Goddess that is on top of the charts these days. The song comes off their upcoming album, Going To Hell which is scheduled for a 2014 release date.  The Pretty Reckless released a video for their first song off the album, “Going To Hell” and that is a badass song. Santa Rosa’s own State Faults release Resonate/Desperate today!

I love announcing new releases but none more than today since it is from a local band from right here in Santa Rosa!  State Faults release their sophomore album, “Resonate/Desperate” on No Sleep Records.
