Kiven release acoustic video for I Can Take It

August 1, 2014

Indie Rockers, Kiven have been receiving a lot of great attention on their self titled album which is filled with 13 well crafted, solid rock songs. The first single off the album, In The Fire spent nine weeks on the KROQ charts, evening topping at the number 1 spot. Today they have released a music video for their second single, I Can Take It which is one of my favorites off the album, vocally engaging and takes you on a merry go round of emotions. Kiven have recently released a video of an acoustic version of I Can Take It. The emotionally driven song is truly highlighted here. Check it out:   The album was recorded at EastWest Studios and Pie Town at MixLA and is available on iTunes, here: Kiven, comprised of Tyler Demorest, Matt Cohen, Danny Schnair and Jake Reed. When asked about the album, vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Tyler Demorest exclaims, “We spent a lot of time writing songs that were our sound and, at the same time, grew what KIVEN is. Tony [Hajjar] had a big impact on the music. It was a trip [Read More]

Nothing More is our Monster Aftershock Featured Band of the Day

August 1, 2014

It has been awesome watching a band truly get the recognition they so well deserve. Nothing More has been one of those bands. We first discovered Nothing More a couple years back and from the first time I saw their live footage videos, I was amazed at how come I didn’t learn of these fantastic musicians sooner! Last year, Nothing More performed at Aftershock Festival, not once but twice! They were the only band to play both days, first during their regular scheduled slot on the side stages and then on the second day they were invited to play the big stage which they took over and dominated. Check out our coverage from last year’s show: Nothing More at Aftershock 2013. Well, a lot has happened in the last year. Last year the unsigned band were really getting noticed and now they are signed to Seven Eleven Music and have had great success with the release of their self titled full length album available on iTunes here. They have toured extensively and everywhere they [Read More]

Three Times Bad prove first time is a charm with their debut album American Sojourn

August 1, 2014

Three Times Bad from San Francisco are breathing a fresh new life to American bluegrass. The band was formed by bandleader Jesus Angel Garcia and was inspired by his acclaimed transmedia novel, badbadbad (New Pulp Press), and a number of lyrics on American Sojourn come directly from stories in the book. Born from the words of his story and brought to life with a variety of musical influences such as hillbilly swing, outlaw country, Gypsy jazz, honkytonk, folk songs and much more. Three Times Bad have released their debut album, American Sojourn in May of this year and is available on iTunes here. You can check out a sample of the album here:   There was a time when music was the glue that brought communities together. It was a time when country folk would gather after a long day of hard work and sit back swill some brew and sing songs and created a camaraderie amongst your neighbors. Three Times Bad bring back that nostalgic feel for a time where music held a common thread [Read More]

Another awesome rock band from Sweden…. say hello to Laney’s Legion

August 1, 2014

Sweden has just been my Go To country for awesome rock n roll for a while now. It seems that every time I turn around another great rock band from Sweden is popping up. What is really great is that each band are unique in their own way and equally deserving of our attention. Today, I want to introduce you to Laney’s Legion from Stockholm. Their self titled debut album was released in April of this year. Their first single Taste of Your Tongue absolutely rocked me the first time I heard it. Then they followed it up with their second single, Poptastic and then I knew they had more rockin tunes that I needed to check out. The catchy song brought out a great blend of punk rock angst with a Motley Crue 80s vibe. It has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it! It has a very catchy sing along chorus, sweet guitar solo and vocals that will have you thinking you were transported to a Sunset Strip nightclub [Read More]

Above and Beyond release spectacular cinematic sci-fi music video for Blue Sky Action

July 31, 2014

Yes, I must confess, I love music videos. I love all kinds, live footage videos, abstract, literal interpretation and most of all, the ones that bring to life the song through a cinematic storyline. A perfect example would be the new video by Above and Beyond featuring Alex Vargas for Blue Sky Action. The video was directed by Ken Clark (who also did the same honors for the band’s “Sticky Fingers” video). The video is a cinematic sci-fi immersion that joins the dots between the apocalyptic desert terrain of Mad Max and the toxic town love story of Wall-E. It is awesome and I think I have already watched it a dozen times! Check it out here: The song will appear on ABOVE & BEYOND’s early 2015 album (title TBA) on Anjunabeats/Ultra Music. This Friday, August 1 ABOVE & BEYOND will perform on Perry’s Stage at Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago. Later in the fall they’ll return for their sold-out headlining show at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday, October 18, to be [Read More]
