Tony Harnell, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Cassandra Soto; the highlight of NAMM 2013!

January 30, 2013

My week at NAMM provided me with my much needed fix of music gear, great concerts, catching up with old friends and making new ones. I must tell you that my highlight of NAMM was not meeting a certain musician even though all that I met were truly wonderful in many ways. It was not about catching a concert and discovering a new band, even though I did get a chance to do just that and will tell you all about that in a future post. It was not about the parties or the dinners, those were incredible as well. My highlight was just at the tail end of NAMM. Only an hour before the entire show closes, did my highlight come. I had been so busy during the week and had missed catching Tony Harnell at one of the booths earlier and on Saturday night my husband took Ryan to the Stryper concert at the House of Blues while I took Brandon out to Downtown Disney. I missed Tony Harnell again as he was [Read More]

Start your love affair with Angels Fall

January 18, 2013

Angels Fall One of my favorite things about working in the music industry is when I experience what I call, “5 second-in love affair” with a band. How best to describe this… Well, it is when I get to listen to a new band that I have never heard about before and I play their music and within the first 5 seconds our love affair begins. This doesn’t happen as often as one would think. It is just something different than the usual excitement about the band. It runs much deeper, it is through hearing their music that I am just spellbound by them.  Today, it happened once again. Within 5 seconds, the music of Angels Fall had me start my love affair and I am completely hooked. Angels Fall is from Los Angeles  and is Joel Jorgenson on Vocals and Guitar, Ben Jindra on Bass and Vocals and Jordan Plosky on drums. Their acoustic driven rock songs with an alternative edge, deliver much more than great sounding music. They can transport you to a [Read More]

Haunted by Heroes heading back to the Whiskey for CD Release Party!

January 15, 2013

With NAMM being almost a week away, I need to tell you about another band that will be playing at the Whiskey during NAMM week. Haunted by Heroes are known as the World’s Youngest Rock Band and these kids will be rocking the Whiskey on January 25th opening for Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions) & Warren DeMartini (RATT). What an incredible talent these boys have and they haven’t even hit their teen years yet! I actually saw them play last year at NAMM and was blown away by their energy at their young ages. If you closed your eyes when you listened to them, you would have never imagined that the great rock and roll was coming from a group of 12 year olds! At the time, I didn’t know where they were from but I did hear a lot of buzz about these kids. I was even more surprised to find out they were also from the Bay Area. I loved growing up in San Mateo and it is awesome to have these kids be from Pacifica. [Read More]
