Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. Awesome Hours is a fairly new band, can you tell us a little about your history?

Awesome Hours: “Awesome Hours started out as sort of a mashup of members former projects. Kyle’s last project recently fell apart and Clayton wanted to start a new project on top of his last project. After adding our former bassist Manny Hernandez and current drummer Spencer Williams, we immediately started booking shows and recording music. Soon, we had some trouble with our bassist and started searching for a new one, adding Will Giannini and soon replacing him with Britt. Now we’re recording our first full-length album and getting ready for our second summer together as a band.”

Music Junkie Press: You guys have out a really great track and video for Hinges, what was the inspiration behind this track?

Awesome Hours: “Hinges is about whether or not happiness should come from yourself, others or both. Also, it asks whether or not receiving happiness from others is acceptable. Basically the song is about whether you should be happy or make others happy. The video, shot by our film student friend Akshay was supposed to highlight the stages of grief. Different elements of the video highlighted different stages such as denial, anger, bargaining ,depression and finally acceptance.”

Music Junkie Press: You are working on a full length album, what stage are you in right now? Can you tell us about where you are recording and if you have a release date as of yet?

Awesome Hours: “We’re still in tracking. We should be done tracking within three weeks. Then We’ll be moving on to mixing and mastering. We can’t give you a release date yet but we can tell you we’re calling the album “Stranger in my Shoes” and we are aiming to release it this winter and release a single sooner than that.”

Music Junkie Press: Now we understand a couple of you are also gearing up to receive degrees in the music industry, can you tell us about that?

Awesome Hours: “Clayton and Britt are both going to AIMM. ‘It’s been quite a ride,’ they say ‘but we really feel like we’ve learned a lot and have the skills now to make a good career for ourselves in the music industry.”

Music Junkie Press: With the new album was the writing a collaborative effort or can you tell us about your songwriting process?

Awesome Hours: The album was mostly a collaborative process. A riff or simple progression could birth a song. About half of the songs were old compositions of Clayton’s that the group would revamp and bring their own parts into the mix.”

Music Junkie Press: If Awesome Hours could put together their dream lineup, what three bands would you like to tour with?

Awesome Hours: “Unanimously; Brand New, Taking Back Sunday and From Indian Lakes”

Music Junkie Press: Are there certain places that you can’t wait to perform at?

Clayton: “I want to see the West coast! I’d love to play Chain Reaction, The Electric Factory in Philly and the Orpheum in Tampa.

Kyle: “I really want to go back to Denver and play some shows and go down the West coast. The west is the best.

Britt: “No where in particular, as long as I’m on stage doing what I love, I’m happy.”

Spencer: “I’d say some of the hometowns of my favorite bands in places like: California, Portland, Washington, etc.

Music Junkie Press: Can you tell us what was the first concert you ever went to?

Clayton: “A Day to Remember with Of Mice and Men”

Kyle: “Shinedown with Chevelle.”

Britt: “This Town Needs Guns with Mylets.”

Spencer: From Indian Lakes with Lydia

Music Junkie Press: We are seeing a resurgence of youth getting back out and going to live shows once again. What can you tell someone to expect when they come out to an Awesome Hours show?

Awesome Hours:  “Expect a different sound and a really solid live show. We have a sound that’s different but not hard to get with. We always want to meet new people and hang out. Hacky sack is kinda our thing! Also, expect the singer to have a breakdown as well as give every body in the audience personal lap dances.”

Music Junkie Press: Will you be planning any upcoming shows on the West Coast?

Awesome Hours: “Those are definitely future goals of ours but not in our financial reach yet. So, no not in the immediate future but in the intermediate future”

Music Junkie Press: We at Music Junkie Press are strong believers about how music helps, heals, inspires, changes us. Can you share a particular time or story where music most helped you?

Clayton: “Well, when I had my surgery I couldn’t do anything for two months so I listened to new music and ever since I finished rehab it’s the only thing I have left.”

Kyle: “Music is a constant stress reliever for me. I love putting new sounds together and being able to express myself in a way that makes sense to me. It’s a great medium to get a message across or just relax.”

Britt: “Every moment of my life. When I graduated High School I realized there is literally nothing else I’d rather do. Without it, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”

Spencer: “It’s allowed me to express what I want to hear and it’s allowed me to share something with other people and give them in insight to my passion.

Music Junkie Press: If we could peak into your Ipod, what artist or song might we be most surprised at finding in there?

Clayton: “Either my Lorde collection or all my T-Swift. Also my old school Miley Cyrus song.”

Kyle: “Bruno Mars is my guilty pleasure. That man has talent and “Uptown Funk” is the shit.”

Britt: “Mostly orchestral stuff. Gustav Holst, Eric Whitacre and the like.”

Spencer: ‘Um… Techn9ne. He’s really good… He’s probably my favorite rapper.”

Music Junkie Press: If you could be trapped in a television show for a week, what would it be and why?

Clayton: “Archer because who wouldn’t want to be a… spy.”

Kyle: “That ‘70s show! I’d stay posted in Eric’s basement.”

Britt: “Adventure Time, maybe? I watch mostly cartoons.”

Spencer: “Portlandia! Cause it’s so random and unexpected but always funny.”

Music Junkie Press: Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share with our audience and your fans?

Awesome Hours:  “Please check out our music and show your friends if you dig it. Help us come to your town because we’d love to come meet you and hang out at a show!”
