Morganostic from Indonesia is our first Tuesday Travels Feature Band

July 16, 2013

Tuesdays Travels  Feature Band We have a new feature here at Music Junkie Press where we will be introducing you to a new band each week from anywhere in the World. Today we are going to travel  to Surabaya, Indonesia and ask you to welcome Morganostic into your playlist. They describe themselves as “We are a legion of groovy riffs, jaw dropping tones, sweet harmonics, and angry vocals. We have no rule in creating our songs, each song is a different masterpiece. We are limitless.. ”  Well, they do have the music to back up that claim. As soon as I checked them out, I was really loving their sound, they definitely fuse some electonic with their high energy guitar riffs to create a fresh new metal sound.  Check out their new song, ‘To Conceive”  which is going to be released on their debut EP in a few months as they are being supported by Youtube promoter, Beheading the Traitor. They are currently working on their debut EP and we had a chance to talk more [Read More]

Interview with Modern Day Renaissance Man… JINXX of Black Veil Brides

July 12, 2013

For years, the Baroque period of music has influenced many rock musicians as they brought out intense emotions through their music. During the ’80s, several rock acts also brought forth their ability to play classical music into their own style.  From Richie Blackmore to Yngwie Malmsteen they brought a new life to rock.  Some heavy metal musicians would take inspiration of the loud, dramatic tones that would come from Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Paganini. Today you even have sub genres of music that completely encompass these sounds, ranging from symphonic rock, baroque pop, rock opera, etc.  What I truly enjoy is when a rock/metal band infuses their own sound with these classical influences without overpowering or completely altering their sound. For me, one of the most successful bands that has achieved this today is Black Veil Brides. Not only do they deliver incredible music that is filled with emotionally driven lyrics, but has classical compositions interwoven through their songs.  Their most recent album, Wretched and Divine, The Story of the Wild Ones captures this essence with their [Read More]

Wine Country producing great heavy metal with Waxwyng

June 30, 2013

Just over an hour North of San Francisco, lies Santa Rosa. The rock and metal music scene has had a tough time for the past few years here. We lost our only Metal/Rock radio station, 101.7 the Fox a couple years back, a string of night club closures including the most recent of the Last Day Saloon.  You might think that with all this happening, Metal and Hard Rock is scarce up here, but local Heavy Metal Band Waxwyng is making sure it is here to stay! Waxwyng are five guys who deliver some energetic progressive metal with influences from Classic Rock, Thrash, and much  more. You have the powerhouse vocals of Matt Cruz, Edgard Duenes and Will Reyes  shredding on guitars, Alex Wilson slamming on bass, and kicking ass on drums is Andreas Hernandez. Their influences have been listed as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Metallica, Skid Row Periphery, Tool and the list can go on. You really can hear their influences in their music. They are not there to imitate, just to create. They [Read More]

Sugar and Spice and Metal is Nice! 6 year old metals it up on America’s Got Talent

June 26, 2013

Last night on America’s Got Talent, I had my faith in the younger generation restored and I know Heavy Metal will always live on!  I am not a regular at watching music/talent reality shows but I had caught a glimpse of a 6 year girl screaming out some heavy metal vocals and had to find out more. Yes, Sugar and Spice and Metal is Nice. That is what this little girl is made of! I was able to watch the full segment on Youtube and it was incredible. Out came this adorable 6 year old girl in a cute little polka dot dress, Aaralyn O’Neil and she was with her 9 year old brother Isaiah O”Neil.  Isaiah played drums as Aaralyn shocked the judges as she belted out her screams to her original song, “Zombie Skin”!  She must  have been channeling Mitch Lucker because I was amazed and loved every second of it. On the judges panel you can see Howard Stern and  Howie Mandel fully enjoying it. Then you see the shocked and confused [Read More]

Prepare to be blown away by Centerlink

May 16, 2013

People ask me all the time how do I find my new music. There are so many ways, I get submissions daily, facebook messages, twitter and so much more. Sometimes you just happen to be in the right spot at the right time and you find a treasure! Today I have to tell you about the treasure I found completely accidental. As you know we went to Revolver Golden Gods Awards and we had bestowed upon the great David Draiman (Device and Disturbed) and his wife the award of Best Dressed Couple. I was on Twitter and ran across a tweet (you can see it in the photo slideshow) from a band that sent David Draiman a message about their music. I went to watch it and was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously just BLOWN AWAY. I thought I had found the lost recording of Metallica of 1985!  I went back to check the message so I could see the band name only to see David’s response to them about how the singer had some Hettfield in [Read More]
