Deaf Havana announce brand-new record and share new single

January 22, 2022

Deaf Havana announce the release of their sixth studio album, “The Present Is A Foreign Land”! The long-awaited follow-up to their hit album “Rituals” comes with 12 tracks written and recorded entirely by brothers James and Matty Veck-Gilodi themselves. In terms of content, the emotional songs revolve around topics such as impostor syndrome, overcoming difficult life obstacles, and self-discovery. In 2020, the band members of Deaf Havana made their decision to go their separate ways after a decade of history together, but then the pandemic struck and they had no choice but to quit making music altogether. Still, Matty continued to write new songs, which brought him and his brother James back together after a tumultuous few months. The two decided to continue as Deaf Havana and holed up in a Hastings studio with producer Mike Horner (Hot Chip, Jess Glynne, YONAKA, among others) to deliver a mature and accomplished work called “The Present Is A Foreign Land”. The new single “ Going Clear“: The honest and vulnerable track once again combines James’ unmistakable voice [Read More]

Ocean Grove announce new album and share new single/video

January 22, 2022

Ocean Grove have announced details of their visionary third album “Up In The Air Forever”, out April 22 via UNFD. Birthed straight from the belly of Ocean Grove’s creative engine – none other than their own Oddworld™ universe – “Up In The Air Forever” is a 10-track, genre-bending epic musical journey. An evolution of the trio’s early heavy sound, the record finds Ocean Grove leaning into their strengths in the worlds of Brit-rock, pop, grunge, and punk and ultimately confirms them as a creative force that can’t be tamed. Celebrating personal freedom, expression and creativity, the record is characterised by strong anarchic sentiments and resentment for a system that squashes individualism and anti-“norm” ideas. Following the reveal of their summery earworm “CALI SUN”, Ocean Grove are lifting a second taste of the album with the reveal of their uplifting anthem “SILVER LINING” last week alongside its new music video. “We want nothing but to empower the listener with a positive mental attitude (PMA), especially in their darkest hours when they may feel completely lost in [Read More]

Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains releases new song and video “Brighten”

September 10, 2021

Iconic singer, songwriter, guitarist, and Alice In Chains co-founder Jerry Cantrell today announces the release of the title track from his new LP Brighten. The full LP will be released on October 29, 2021 and is available for pre-order and pre-save HERE. Talking about “Brighten”, Jerry says, “Pretty early on, I knew “Brighten” was the cornerstone track of the album, and it seemed to fit the body of work as a title. There’s plenty of darkness and edge, but there’s also some light, space, and good vibes.” The video, directed by Gilbert Trejo, son of renowned actor Danny Trejo, is loosely based on the fabled “Lotus Eaters” from Homer’s Odyssey. It depicts a story of a man having a psychedelic experience as a result of eating flowers; a “Lotus Eater” is a person who spends their time indulging in instant gratification, pleasure and luxury rather than dealing with anything practical. The story is interspersed with an impassioned live performance from Jerry, Tyler Bates on bass, Greg Puciato on backing vocals and guitar, drummer Abe Laboriel [Read More]

DROWN THIS CITY ANNOUNCE UPCOMING EP ‘COLOURS WE WON’T KNOW’

May 6, 2021

Melbourne metalcore risers Drown This City have announced their new EP “Colours We Won’t Know” will be released on Friday, May 28 via UNFD. Following their new single and video “New Burn Order” last month, the band is following up with a fierce new cut from the EP titled “Borderline Existence” today. DTC vocalist Alex Reade shares how the track’s haunting scenario – depicting a person’s out of body experience watching on at themselves trapped in an asylum – represents the agitation and anger she’s experienced feeling forced to pursue a certain path due to external pressure placed on her. “I’ve found myself wearing thin because of this, wondering what I was fighting against and how long could I keep going for. This song reflects the battle I feel to succeed against all odds, fuelled by sheer terror that my life will be for nothing”, she shares. “The line ‘I really thought that I’d amount to something, I should have known you’d get me in the end’ really reflects the exhaustion I feel wondering if [Read More]

Monster Magnet share cover song of Dust’s “Learning To Die”

April 21, 2021

Monster Magnet released a video for their cover of classic Dust track “Learning To Die” today. The new song is a first glimpse into the band’s upcoming new record, a cover album ‘A Better Dystopia’, which will be out May 21 via Napalm Records. While the album marks a new frontier for MONSTER MAGNET as their first covers record, this is not your typical set of standards released to pass time. A Better Dystopia sees the band pay homage to some of their favorite songs of all time, while reflecting on the paranoia, dystopia and revolution of both now – and then. Of the song selection, frontman Dave Wyndorf says: “‘Learning To Die’ blew me away when I was 15 and it still blows me away. Man, do I LOVE to sing this song. Dust was one of the greats.” Dave Wyndorf says about the birth of A Better Dystopia: “We all agreed that we would be bored out of our minds within a month of lockdown. MONSTER MAGNET loves the road. It’s a lifestyle. [Read More]
