Most anticipated CD Release, Sway by Blue October

July 25, 2013

With less than a month away, I am having a hard time containing my excitement for what is my most anticipated album release. Their seventh studio album “Sway” by Blue October is set to release on August 20th and it is definitely one I have been anxiously waiting for.  I have been a long time lover of Blue October and their emotionally driven music that truly has a life of its own. Their music has been there for me in my darkest times as well as my most celebrated moments. They are like that true friend that is always there for you; whether it is to ride out the storms or admire the beauty of the rainbows.  You can’t call us fans of their music, because once you fall in love with their music, you become a family.  I can’t tell you how  many times I have heard from people about how Blue October changed their lives, helped them through their deepest struggles, kept them going and inspired them to be a better person.  I [Read More]

Some Fear None, A must see band from Sacramento!

July 25, 2013

Sacramento, CA rockers, Some Fear None have a new CD out that you have to get your hands onto and your ears listening! I first saw this incredible rock band over a  years ago as they opened up for Burn Halo and Smile Empty Soul. We were blown away by the energy these rockers bring to the stage. You have powerful vocals by Nathan Giguiere, intense guitar work by Chuck Carrasco, slamming bass by Gina Salatino and pounding drums by Jason Weisker. You put these four together and you are completely captivated by their unique rock sound that blends everything from metal to alternative, to grunge and more. Their debut CD, “Break Hold and Elevate” is a work of art as you get a fusion of sounds reminiscent of early Deftones, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden as well as other bands like Three Days Grace, Seether, and more. They truly have created their own unique sound and don’t try to put themselves into any particular genre or subgenre of music. They do what they are best at, [Read More]

STICKMIKE delivers old school punk rock!

July 24, 2013

Sometimes you just need more punk rock in  your life…. Right now is that time for me. I got a quick listen to a band from Australia that I just fell in love with! Let me introduce you to Stickmike and get ready to jump and shout! You definitely can’t call them a new band since they have been around since 2004 and giving the Down Under their punk rock. These four guys; Neil Dick on Lead Guitar, Todd Stephenson on Bass and Vocals, Joey Pangilinan on Drums and Scott Stephenson on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar are from Sydney and named their band after taping some hockey sticks together to be used as a microphone. Here is a video for one of their latest songs, ‘This One’s For You” which is off their CD titled, “Imagine if We Tried” and available on Itunes here. This song is like an anthemic energetic song reminiscent of my love for Material Issue and AM TAXI.  Take a listen and get hooked!!     These guys have put out several demos but it is [Read More]

The first song that played was “The Invisible Fire” which [Read More]

Avenged Sevenfold announces new album “Hail to the King” and the controversy begins

June 28, 2013

Avenged Sevenfold recently announced the title and cover art for their next album.  Titled “Hail the King”  is set to release on August 27, 2013.  I know a lot of people have been waiting for new music from Avenged Sevenfold and you don’t have much longer to wait.  This album with the first to featuring drummer Arin Ilejay who replaced the late, great Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died in 2009. Amidst all the excitement about the new album, there has been quite a bit of controversy around the cover art in addition to the rehashed discussion on A7X similar logo to one of my favorite bands, Overkill. You can check out the similarities below for the logo.  Personally, I don’t think Overkill was the first to ever use bat wings along with a skull, that pretty much is just another image or icon from the metal or rock world and many bands use them. Now let’s bring up the cover art. The cover art has been compared to Lich King’s cover for “World Gone Dead”. [Read More]

Marie-Claire Berreen is a majestic beauty wrapped in music

February 12, 2013

Majestic Beauty Wrapped in Music I have a wonderful treat for your ears. It is the majestic beauty wrapped in music by Marie-Claire Berreen. When you think of some of the best female vocalists like Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, and Leigh Nash,  you think of powerful voices that can reach within you and touch you with warmth. That is what I feel when I listen to the classical folk music by Marie-Claire Berreen. Marie-Claire’s voice is like sunshine brightening the sky. you can’t help but feel the warmth from her words and they leave you feeling sun kissed. She has a wonderful CD of her beautiful music titled, “Box and a Ribbon” that will take over all of your senses.  The first song is “Honeypie” and literally is the perfect way to start off the CD. You are warm and open and feel her welcoming embrace. It is like that long lost friend coming to greet you again and feeling like you never left their side. You are treated to so many wonderful [Read More]
