Teenage Bottlerocket sign to Rise Records and catch them on Warped Tour

June 24, 2014

When many people think of Warped Tour, they often think of old school punk rock bands which is what the Warped Tour has been known for. This year they are celebrating 20 years of bringing great music of bands you know or bands you have never heard of to the masses.  Over the years, in addition to punk the genre lines were opened and many other styles of music grace the Warped Tour stages. This past Saturday during our coverage of the Mountain View tour date, we were excited to see a true blue “old school punk rock” grace the Hard Rock Kevin Says stage! Of course, we are talking about Teenage Bottlerocket and they were awesome. Teenage Bottlerocket hail from Laramie, WY and will be performing on this year’s tour. They deliver an unrelenting in your face set fueled with punk attitude and the fierce music to back it up. I loved their set and they had the crowd revved up. They have just announced that they have been signed to Rise Records and [Read More]

Check out Nine Volt Heart for some new aggressive pop punk to start your day off right!

June 17, 2014

I have a great band to tell you about for some energetic aggressive pop punk that will get you pumped up and ready to start your day off right. I am talking about Nine Volt Heart from the UK. Nine Volt Heart is Mikey Lord on vocals/guitar, Paul Norfolk on guitar, Ed Truby on bass and Alex Sheldon on drums. These four bring together a fresh new take on punk infused with some melodic pop rock styles.  The perfect combo to get you moving. Nine Volt Heart currently has their new album, The Miracle Kids out now. You can pick up the 12 track album on their bandcamp page here. You will love it since it features a variety of tracks from the amped up pop punk anthem of the title track, The Miracle Kids to the emotionally driven song of breathe? to the kick ass track of Teenage Fantasy and everything in between. They really remind me of another young pop punk band that I fell in love with many, many years ago; Material Issue. Check out a cool video [Read More]

June 11, 2014

Mongrel from Boston is an awesome band that I hope you check out. They are a female fronted hard rock/metal band but with great punk influences. They have successfully blended these styles to form their own unique sound that is getting a lot of praise. Mongrel is: Adam Savage – guitar Jessica Sierra – vocals Michael Ariza – bass Mike “Hoagie” Hogan – drums They have just released a music video for their new song, Oxygen Mask which is off their new album, Evolution which was released earlier this month on Unable Records. The video was shot and produced by Niki Melish of Lynx Productions and features a notable cast of Bell Time Club wrestlers performing along with Mongrel. Check out the video here:   Evolution was recorded by Jim Foster (POD, Nullset, Sully Erna), mixed by Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Soil, Otep, Evanescence) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Pantera, Metallica, Soundgarden) and is quite a musical gem. The Deadlies delivered a fun beach party set at Bottle Rock Napa 2014!

June 4, 2014

The Deadlies were one of our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Bands and we were able to catch their set this past Saturday. One thing is for sure, they truly brought the fun to the festival. Their stage was set up like a surf party complete with beach go-go dancers. The City Winery Local Stage was one of the most happenin spots when The Deadlies took to the stage. This is a local band with a big sound! As we told you before in our preshow coverage, you may have already seen or heard them play but we were not familiar with them. The Deadlies can be described as a California surf punk/rock band with a little Honky Tonk and Country thrown in.  One thing is for sure, when you listen to The Deadlies, you can’t help but move around and have some fun! They are “paying homage to the Ventures Dick Dale and the Chantays as well as the California Honky-tonk sound of Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam while keeping an under lying presence [Read More]

June 4, 2014

Sunday night we trekked down to San Francisco to catch Cherri Bomb play at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. It was a night filled with great bands, many were from Santa Rosa like us. All the bands were great and will bring you individual coverage on them to include, Oh! The Horror, A Hero To Fall, Chapters, and Awoken Shadows. Cherri Bomb is: We had the chance to talk with Cherri Bomb before their set and are pleased to bring that interview to you here: Now, let me tell you about the spectacular set that Cherri Bomb performed. These four have infectious charismatic personalities that perfectly translate through their music. The crowd was instantly jolted with energy as they took the stage. They were playing at the Above DNA and as I have told you before it is very limited on stage size but these four dominated it.   Miranda not only holds down the rhythm guitar but delights us as she plays the keyboard and also should receive high praise for her powerful [Read More]
