December 3, 2019

It’s that time of year again. The Impericon Never Say Die tour is under way and we came out to the Backstage in Munich to cover the show for you. This year’s lineup was Great American Ghost Alpha Wolf Our Hollow Our Home Polar King 810 In Hearst Wake Crystal Lake The show started at 5.30 pm. The first five bands played approx. 30 minutes. Between sets there was a 15 minutes brake to set the stage new. The last three bands played around 45 minutes. The schedule was pretty tight. Kudos to the stage crews for working hard to keep that schedule. Boston based hardcore quartet Great American Ghost kicked off the show. A few days ago, the band released a new track ‘Prison Of Hate’ from their upcoming record ‘Power Through Terror’, which will be out February 14th, 2020. Seven years in the business, they never made it to Germany so far. With this show they made an impact though, which hopefully will reside in a comeback anytime soon. They played a six-song [Read More]

Sleeping With Sirens – How It Feels To Be Lost tour 2019 stops in Munich

November 26, 2019

September 6th Sleeping With Sirens released their latest record ‘How It Feels To Be Lost’. In many ways this record settles a new start for the band. It’s the first record they released through Sumerian Records. Kellin Quinn, the bands singer, struggled with depressions and alcoholism over the last years. For the new record though, he started over fresh. “I let everything go,” Kellin admits. “I wasn’t being the leader I had always been. For the last few years, I was struggling with alcoholism, depression and anxiety. I didn’t know how to turn it around or what to do. Being on the road and touring as much as we did for Gossip was really hard on me. I didn’t know if I even had it in me to write another record or get on stage and perform. Something just happened one day. I woke up, called Jack and said, ‘Hey, I want to stop drinking. I want to go into a room and write the best record we’ve ever written’. Both of those things happened [Read More]

Combichrist, Soulfly and Rave The Requiem live in Munich at the Backstage August 7th, 2019

September 21, 2019

After an extensive tour through the US in April and May 2019 with over 40 dates, Combichrist went over the great pond to continue their ‘One Fire’ tour through Europe and the UK in June, July and August 2019. We were lucky to catch the band live in Munich on August 7th. It was the only double-headliner show the band did with Soulfly, well-known through it’s frontman Max Cavalera (ex-Sepultura). Opening act was a Swedish band called ‘Rave The Requiem’. While unknown to most of the people, they could easily win over the crowd. Their performance was very energetic with an amazing female vocalist Jenny Fagerstrandh. Her voice complements the bands vocalists’ and guitarists’ Filip Lönnqvist. Him also being the founder of the band. RTR released their latest record ‘FVNERAL’ in October 2018. Make sure to check them out live, if you get a chance. Combichrist and Soulfly as co-headliners, a strange combination one might think….. When the date was first announced, it was only Combichrist, Soulfly have been added to the line-up later on. All That Remains live at the Backstage Munich

December 29, 2018

December 17th, 2018 In July 2018 All That Remains released dates for a short tour through Germany (Berlin, Cologne and Munich) in December 2018. Recently the band had to deal with the loss of their lead guitarist and founding member Oli Herbert in October 2018. On November 9th 2018 Massachusetts-based band released their latest record ‘Victim Of The New Disease’. The loss of a band member is one of the worst things that can happen to such a tight unit. Phil Labonte stated during the show, that in the first weeks after the tragic accident happened, they weren’t sure, if they would go on as a band and if the record would even be released. In the end they decided that Oli Herbert would have wanted them to go an. Also, Jason Richardson (ex- Chelsea Grin and Born Of Osiris) offered to help them out as lead guitarist for their upcoming tour dates. All That Remains chose different opening bands for each of the three dates. For the Backstage it was Heruin, a Munich based [Read More]

Combichrist, Wednesday 13 and Night Club – Everybody Still Hates You-tour 2018. By Alex Bock

August 1, 2018

Munich, July 21st – Technikum – a short review Over the last few years, a summer wouldn’t be a summer, if Combichrist didn’t come down and play shows in Germany. So with 2018 making no exception, Munich welcomed the band once again. They brought two opening acts along. Night Club, a two people act, was the first to enter the stage. While Mark Brooks manages the music DJ-style, Emily Kavanaugh is the front woman/singer. Though the venue wasn’t that full at the beginning of their set, Emily managed to entertain quite well, not being intimidated by the (at first) quiet audience. Their music is quite catchy. Definitely a band worth checking out. Shock rocker Wednesday 13 already assembled a steady fan-base over the years. Their 7th studio record ‘Condolences’ was released in June 2017. Their show was definitely one for the books in terms of appearances. No dull moment there. Finally, Combichrist hit the stage at around 10 pm. At the moment we experience really hot summer days, but believe me, the temperature inside rose [Read More]

Experience Impericon Festival Munich 2018 in pictures. By Alex Bock

May 22, 2018

This years’ Impericon Festival in Munich took place at the Backstage for the first time. Two stages in two different clubs on the premises. There was the Marshall Stage in the smaller one called ‘Halle’ and the big stage – Monster Stage – in the ‘Werk’. Novelists opened the festival at 2 pm sharp. All shows started according to plan. The sets collided, so if you wanted to catch all the bands you had to decide, if you wanted to miss the first song or the last. Since the Marshall stage had no pit and was fairly smaller, it was kinda tricky to get there, when the band had already started to play. Each of the shows were equally crowded. Although the area itself is not a wide-open space, the switching of venues was smooth and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Here are some impressions of Impericon Festival Munich 2018.
