All That Remains live at the Backstage Munich

December 29, 2018

December 17th, 2018 In July 2018 All That Remains released dates for a short tour through Germany (Berlin, Cologne and Munich) in December 2018. Recently the band had to deal with the loss of their lead guitarist and founding member Oli Herbert in October 2018. On November 9th 2018 Massachusetts-based band released their latest record ‘Victim Of The New Disease’. The loss of a band member is one of the worst things that can happen to such a tight unit. Phil Labonte stated during the show, that in the first weeks after the tragic accident happened, they weren’t sure, if they would go on as a band and if the record would even be released. In the end they decided that Oli Herbert would have wanted them to go an. Also, Jason Richardson (ex- Chelsea Grin and Born Of Osiris) offered to help them out as lead guitarist for their upcoming tour dates. All That Remains chose different opening bands for each of the three dates. For the Backstage it was Heruin, a Munich based [Read More]

Caliban, Lionheart and Bad Omens live

December 12, 2018

Backstage Munich, Dec. 6th, 2018   Thursday night, 6.30 pm was the announced time for doors to open. Not too many people were queuing outside the Backstage Werk in Munich. For one, it was probably still early for those still at work and second, the opening band of the night, Bad Omens, are not that well known around here so far. Show start was an hour later. The venue was still more than half empty, the fate of many opening bands. With Caliban and Lionheart there were two experienced bands on stage, that drew most of the people to this show. Bad Omens didn’t necessarily fit the bill, which made it hard for them to make a real connection with the audience. Songs like ‘Glass Houses’, ‘Careful What You Wish For’ and ‘Exit Wounds’ do have potential and there were people in the crowd that knew the band and sang along, but that night it wasn’t enough to really ‘heat up’ the audience. By the time Lionheart entered the stage, everyone had made it to [Read More]

Napalm Death Joins the Crypto-Craze . . . Sort Of

December 10, 2018

British metal band Napalm Death are probably a band least inclined to explore modern-day technology. But — surprise, surprise! — they are in on the cryptocurrency craze. Well, sort of only. And not by their own volition. Okay, that seems confusing enough, right? Don’t worry, it isn’t that confusing. Neither is it earth-shattering news. It’s an ice-breaker of a news, though, especially on a slow day. See, there’s this HBO TV series called Silicon Valley, and one of its characters, Gilfoyle (played by the artist Martin Starr) reveals in Season 5 that he mines cryptocurrency as a side gig. For the uninitiated, cryptocurrencies are pretty much just digital money, with the so-called Bitcoin being the most popular of their kind (really, Google cryptocurrency, or maybe ask Siri). Anyway, said character Gilfoyle admits to his officemates that he had created an alert that plays when Bitcoin’s value either rises or drops. Said alert — and you may have caught on already — plays Napalm Death’s unique “opus” “You Suffer,” likely the shortest “song” ever put out [Read More]

Danny Worsnop releases new song, Little Did I Know

December 7, 2018

Danny Worsnop has had quite a busy year with extensive touring with Asking Alexandria. It is a wonder where he found the time, but he has just released a new song from his solo career. The soulful track Little Did I Know brings to life his emotive vocals and emotionally driven lyrics.  Danny comments on the new song, “‘Little Did I Know’ was the song that set the tone for Shades Of Blue. It is such a fun and upbeat feeling song that under the surface is a very sad and moving story of loneliness. I’ve been waiting a long time to get this out and am very excited and proud to finally share it with you all. Jim Kaufman and I spent a lot of time figuring out how this song should feel and the direction he guided me in with this song really sculpted what the entire collection of music became.’ Check out the new track here: Stay tuned for a busy 2019 for Danny. New album Triumphant Hearts by Jason Becker OUT NOW!

December 7, 2018

Triumphant Hearts, the new album from Jason Becker is released today via MascotRecords/Mascot Label Group.  The album features Marty Friedman, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Neal Schon, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert, Joe Bonamassa, Uli Jon Roth, Richie Kotzen, Gus G., Jake Shimabukuro, and many more.  Jason Becker’s story is one of brilliance, talent, determination, adversity, and, ultimately, triumph. A child prodigy on guitar, Jason rose to prominence as a teenager when he was one half of the technical guitar duo Cacophony, with his great friend Marty Friedman. In 1989, at only 19 years old and after wowing audiences all over the world, the young virtuoso became the guitarist for David Lee Roth, following in the huge footsteps of Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. He wrote and recorded on his 3rd solo album ‘A Little Ain’t Enough’ and was poised for superstardom when a nagging pain in his leg was diagnosed as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). A fatal condition with a life expectancy of maybe five years. Maybe. That was 29 years ago.  He lost the ability to [Read More]
