Defences share new song/video “Something More”

April 26, 2021

Defences return with the first reveal of new music since the release of their last EP “Thoughts That Keep You Awake” with the irresistibly anthemic new single “Something More”. Recorded, Mixed & Mastered by Daniel Kerr (Our Hollow, Our Home/Shields/ Create To Inspire) at Avenue Studios, “Something More” is a powerful, self-reflective song about the internal anger and breaking through the fears of seeking help. “Something More was written about the realisation that life changes you, sometimes without even realising it, and sometimes not for the better, but that’s okay. It’s about that realisation and acknowledgement, deciding to do something about it and starting to look at yourself” (Cherry Duesbury) “Something More tackles the difficult subject of dealing with our own inhibitions in a constructive way. It’s all too easy to succumb to our own fears and anger but if we dig deeper and are honest with ourselves, we can often find the source of these feelings. Whether internally or reaching out to others for help, we can find new ways to deal with these [Read More]

The Devil Wears Prada share ‘Termination’

April 25, 2021

The Devil Wears Prada — Mike Hranica [vocals], Jeremy DePoyster [vocals, guitar], Mason Nagy [bass], Kyle Sipress [guitar], Jonathan Gering [keys, synthesizers], and Giuseppe Capolupo [drums] — will release the much-anticipated “ZII” EP on May 21th via Solid State Records. It’s a discordant, dissonant exercise in excellence. Pre-order the “ZII” EP here. I learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to imagine how a virus can seriously compromise our lives,” says Hranica. “‘Termination’ makes mention of that and the greed that so often comes when humans fend only for themselves or when lying to protect reputation. I didn’t want to remake any part of the lyrical imaginings of the first EP, and the transformation mentioned in ‘Termination’ is a part of the new territory I hoped to create for ‘ZII’”. The Devil Wears Prada have also planned a livestream event for Saturday, May 15, during which they will play the entire “ZII” EP in full. Fans can purchase tickets along with the pre-order of the EP. The original “Zombie” EP dropped all the way back in August [Read More]

April 25, 2021

Photo Credit: Cameron Nunez and Harri Charli  British Glam-Rocker The Struts and celebrated singer/songwriter Paris Jackson collaborated for a brand-new track “Low Key In Love”. The focus of the song is the vocal interaction between Jackson and Struts-frontman Luke Spiller, who also plays in the video for the song. “Low Key In Love” is available on all streaming platforms. Check it out: Produced by Tommy English, “Low Key In Love” offers everything you can wish for in a Rock’n’Roll duett. With a dreamy scenery of golden guitar sounds and low grooves, Spiller and Jackson tell the tale of a tequila-soaked night where both characters try to hide their feelings from the one they obviously adore. “”Low Key In Love”  was written after a date in Los Angeles in the 70’s retro bar ‘Good Times at Davey Wayne’s”, Spiller says. “I walked to the studio and explained, that the song should describe the feeling you sense, when you enter a bar and you suck up the mood there. When we decided to turn it into a duett, [Read More]

Palm Reader drop new singe and video for “False Thirst”

April 25, 2021

Palm Reader have dropped the video for “False Thirst”, a fan favourite taken from their highly acclaimed new album ‘Sleepless’ (out now on Church Road Records). Directed by Sam Lees, the striking video continues on the narrative from the video for their previous single ‘Willow’. Vocalist Josh Mckeown says “This song is about the normality behind life’s difficulties. We all find it hard in some respect. So, considering the thought of all our collective hardships, ‘should it be easy?’ That was the question I found myself asking whilst writing and it really helped me, even before it was answered, to gain some perspective. Realising you’re not alone in your troubles can really help to relieve the pressure we put on ourselves and reduce the stress surrounding those moments. In short, life is really fucking hard sometimes, but it goes on and it gets better.” Palm Reader have also announced 2 headline shows for 2021 in the UK. The shows will see the band perform ‘Sleepless’ in full and a selection of songs from their heralded [Read More]

Drug Church announce new EP “Tawny” and share title track

April 22, 2021

Everyone’s favorite punk rock agitators, Drug Church, have returned. Today the Albany/Los Angeles-based band announced “Tawny”: a new four-song EP due out June 25th from Pure Noise Records that acts as a bridge from their 2018 LP, “Cheer”, to Drug Church’s impending fourth full-length. “Cheer” was acclaimed by both fans and critics alike (including praise from the likes of Stereogum, Noisey, Revolver, BrooklynVegan, and more), and with “Tawny” the band push their blend of hardcore aggression and massive, ’90s-indebted hooks even further. Drug Church have also shared the EP’s title track, a towering wall of heavy guitars and pummeling drums with an anthemic climax that hints at the band’s ever-expanding songwriting toolbox. Never one to flinch at the darker corners of the human condition, vocalist Patrick Kindlon’s lyrics remain as vitriolic as ever. “People are so happy to not be in the guillotine, they’ll cheer at anyone else’s execution”, he says. “I’ve about had it with that”. “Tawny” is comprised of Drug Church’s crushing 2020 single “Bliss Out”, a cover of Arcwelder’s “Remember To Forget”, [Read More]

Of Mice & Men share new song & video ‘Bloom’

April 21, 2021

In February, California quartet OF MICE & MEN released the Timeless EP via SharpTone Records. Timeless is the first in a series of EPs that will eventually comprise the band’s next album. Today, the band has announced the next EP, titled Bloom. It will arrive on May 28 via SharpTone. To herald the announcement, the band has shared the title track. “‘Bloom’ is a song about grieving the death of a family member,” says OM&M singer and bassist Aaron Pauley. “It’s about understanding, through that loss, that grief is not only love in its most visceral and wildest form, but that it’s also the ultimate price we pay to experience such love. To know profound grief is to have known profound love. Nothing and no one lasts forever. Love isn’t a bouquet of plastic flowers; it’s watching the petals fall.” Of Mice & Men enjoyed a groundswell of activity around the well-received Timeless EP. The three-song collection was described as “crushing” by Revolver, and as “thought provoking” and “cinematic” by Loudwire. As of press time, [Read More]
