Winger proves Better Days Comin’ with their new rockin album

Winger

Who isn’t ready for Better Days? Whether it be as a commentary to society today or even the uncertainty in the rock and roll world. One thing is certain, Winger is out to bring us that hope with their new album, Better Days Comin’.  Their new album was released last week through Frontier Records and it is one that I have had on repeat for a while now. Winger celebrated their 25th anniversary of their first highly successful self titled album which was released in 1988.  Fast forward to today and they sound just as fresh and ready to rock.

The album starts off with Midnight Driver of a Love Machine along with it’s very cool 80s’ style intro and then vocals come in and they are sweetly intense as they take you into a bad ass rockin song. Perfect song to start off the album and get you fueled to rock. Queen Babylon and Rat Race come in and really deliver a metal sound with fierce guitars, crunchy rhythm, precision drumming and sweet solos. There is something about melodic metal that gets your blood pumping! Rat Race has passionate vocals that grab your attention.

The title track starts off with a very Southern Rock and Blues feel as it takes you into a catchy groove. It is much more unique and really does stand out on the album and it has a catchy chorus that will give you that hope that rock and roll can be saved! Tin Soldier has a mesmerizing intro that utilizes the instrumentals to create such an impact and backdrop for the emotionally driven lyrics and a guitar solo that speaks to you. It is a very intense track that I love. Ever Wonder is a very mysterious track, quite varied than the traditional Winger sound we are all familiar with and it turns out beautifully. The song creates an ethereal ambiance as the serene vocals have you reflecting on life and taking a look at yourself, a truly passionate track.

So Long China and Storm in Me come in and brings the melodic hard rock that we all love from Winger. Storm in Me does have a progressive style/creative element on it that will bring this song to the forefront. The vocal distortions raise the intensity and it has  amazingly fierce guitars. Be Who You Are, Now is that Winger style ballad that we have all known and loved, yet brings out a vulnerability and honesty that feeds your soul as well as inspires you.

The last song which is the bonus track, Out of This World and it transitions from a softer melodic hard rock to a sweet progressive track. The entire song is stellar, from the thought provoking lyrics to the epic guitar solos, to the emotional vocals. It is a bittersweet ending for the album; the album truly satisfied my rock n roll need yet I am selfish and want more of Winger. Incredible song and the entire album, Better Days Comin‘ can be described as a well crafted, superbly written hard rock/metal album.

I really  hope you get a chance to check it out. The album is available on iTunes here or through the band website here. Winger will soon be announcing tour dates this summer in support of the album and we look forward to bringing you an interview and coverage. Make sure to visit social media sites so you can stay up to date on the latest Winger news.
