As you know we have our annual 12 Days of Music coming up in a couple weeks but I don’t think I can wait that long to feature this band, September Sky. They are just too incredible and I have to share them with you. My great Twitter friend Bill @MetalGod41 sent me their video tonight to check out and it was one of those times where the whole family got involved.
I was playing it and from the other room, came my 15 year old Rockin Ryan to ask, “who is that??”, shortly after my husband Steve came from the garage to say, “turn it up, who is that?”. I think if my youngest Brandon wasn’t so involved in his SpongeBob game he would of ran over to do his usual headbang to it! September Sky is a hard rock metal band from Indianapolis, IN and includes Scott Bernhardt on vocals, Larry Craigon guitar, Mark Lentz on lead guitar, Martin Baker on drums and Tobias Konnersman on bass. They have a powerful in your face sound that you can’t turn away from.
The video I watched was for their song,”The Fight” which is off of their recently released second EP, “Letter to Fear”. The song starts right off heavy and just takes control of you, it is definitely a blend of metal and rock which I LOVE! The video is also just as amazing. This if their first full length video and it deals with suicide. It is a great song to literally have you stay and Fight! It is emotionally driven song that touches on such a raw subject that needs more attention with the rising rates of suicide and to gain awareness and prevention. Check out the video here:
I went on to check out more of their music and with every song, I became more in love with them. Letter to Fear has some wicked guitar work and the vocals in Winds & Waves captivate you immediately and the cymbal chokes/guitar stop create the perfect momentum. I will leave you with their lyric video for Letter to Fear. The vocal tones in this song are bad ass and those drums just get your blood pumping. Having worked with many of the greatest bands and entertainers out there since 1990 I am extremely impressed with September Sky’s ability to produce solid music with a message. I have to admit that they are truly one of my favorite musical acts…and I look forward to watching them rise to the top. A band definitely worth checking out and albums that are a “must have” in any collection!
