The Rabid Whole tear it up at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco

October 29, 2014

This past Sunday we made it to San Francisco and no, not for the World Series, for something much more energetic and climatic! We were at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco for the Cyanotic and The Rabid Whole TERMINATOUR. It was definitely the right place to be as these bands were over the top with energy and delivered sets that would rival our concert coverage of 2014! We will be bringing you coverage of Cyanotic later but for now, let me tell you how The Rabid Whole completely blew us away with their set. The Above DNA Lounge has quite an intimate setting but when you get an energetic band on that small stage, the room can’t contain the adrenaline running through everyone’s veins. That is exactly what The Rabid Whole did. They came out and gave 150% of themselves on that stage, it was as if they were playing for a crowd of 10,000! I love a band that comes out and delivers their all every single time and that is what The Rabid [Read More]

The Grounds from Calgary are set to tickle your classic rock fancy with their new single, Lilac. These young musicians have breathed fresh new life into the alternative rock scene with hints of classic 90’s grunge and dipped in pure classic rock bliss. Their music is well beyond their years as they show a great level of maturity in their sound, evolved and well developed. Check out their new single, Lilac and you will hear what I mean: You can pick up the single on iTunes here and make sure to visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thegroundsmusic Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheGroundsMusic iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/lilac-single/id923797510 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheGroundsBand

Ghost Season new EP Ghosts Like Her will definitely grab your attention

October 16, 2014

Ghost Season from Athens, Greece definitely caught my attention with their new EP, Ghosts Like Her. The five song EP delivers a true taste of the talents of this band. They can be described as a blend of metal, progressive and hard rock. Their EP starts right off with the fierce track, Alive and that is exactly how you feel when you are smacked in the face with those heavy guitars and a beat that just has you headbanging throughout. Those drums! I love the intensity and the dueling guitars just kick ass and we can’t forget to mention that epic guitar solo. The melodic vocals have a great 80’s rock vibe without overdoing it. They at times remind me of a lovechild of Stone Temple Pilots, Queensryche and Bullet For My Valentine yet in no way imitate. These guys have created their own unique sound that will soon have everyone taking notice of them and come to love Ghost Season. Ghosts Like Her once again delivers those guitars that just grab you. This is a [Read More]

Check out the new video from Like Monroe for The Hills and pick up their new album!

October 16, 2014

Like Monroe have just released their new album, Things We Think, But Never Speak earlier this week and it has already been receiving a lot of high praise. I absolutely love the new energy on it and it is fierce!  They have also released a video for their song, The Hills which was directed by Aaron Marsh (Of Mice and Men).  “Working with Aaron was a no brainer,” says guitarist Chris Deckard. “He was an easy choice! He was present during the writing process and has been a part of this project since the very beginning.” Check out the new video here:  The song is also getting a lot of airplay on XM Sirius Octane channel and these guys truly deserve all the great attention. They are such a hard working band that put on adrenaline fueled sets. They have just wrapped up a tour with Eyes Set To Kill but I am sure we will be hearing about them heading out on another tour soon. These guys are unstoppable!   You can pick up [Read More]

Falling Through April deliver a straight up bad ass set at Regency Ballroom

October 11, 2014

This past week we were at The Regency Ballroom for the Adelita’s Way and The Pretty Reckless show at The Regency Ballroom. I was unfamiliar with the opening band, Falling Through April but that has since changed! After catching their high energy and rockin set, I am definitely hooked. They have an alternative rock style that just captured the crowd from start to finish. Their music has hints of a pop punk style yet with a much more refined rock edge, almost like a blend of early Escape the Fate and AFI.  It is refreshing to see a band forge ahead with their own unique sound and not follow the cookie cutter bands that seemed to perfectly fit into a genre or subgenre checkbox. These guys also have great stage presence as they won over the crowd at The Regency. Falling Through April are from Charlotte, NC and have been around since 2011. I am bummed I haven’t heard of them sooner but am glad I do now. It was nice to see how they [Read More]

Check out the new video by Glasvegas for Magazine

October 9, 2014

Glasvegas from Scotland have just released a new video for their song, Magazine which is off their recent album, Later …When The TV Turns To Static.  James Allan, Glasvegas song-writer, guitarist, vocalist, frontman, beloved people’s poet (and profound Glaswegian) says “the song is about the things we believe in, religion and media, idols and Gods and yet what people are looking for is inside themselves already.” Check out the video here: I love this track as not only does it highlight the amazing vocals of James but is like a breath of fresh air to the cookie cutter sounds of today’s music scene. They have truly captured my attention and I look forward to hearing more from Glasvegas. Make sure to visit their social media sites and stay up to date on their latest news. ~ Marisol Information & Links: Website: http://www.glasvegas.net/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glasvegas Twitter: https://twitter.com/glasvegas Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/glasvegas
