Chrissy Amphlett of Divinyls dies at young age of 53

April 22, 2013

Chrissy Amphlett Rest in Peace October 25, 1959 to April 21, 2013 Today I got the shocking news that we lost Chrissy Amphlett of the Australian rock band Divinyls to her battle of breast cancer. Chrissy was truly one of the most influential musicians for me when I was growing up from a rebellious teenager into an independent woman. Many people know of the Divinyls from their huge international hit, “I Touch Myself” in the’90s but long before I was already in love with many of their great songs like “Good Die Young”, “Pleasure and Pain”, and ‘Boys in Town”. I am going to have see if I can find my old cassettes, I swear I must have worn them out. Chrissy had such a great voice and her exuberant personality had everyone falling in love with her and their music. I can remember when I used to play my Divinyls cassettes and it wasn’t until I played their hit single, “‘I Touch Myself” that my parents literally told me they didn’t like me playing [Read More]

March 13, 2013

We lost another great one! The incredible former drummer of Iron Maiden, Clive Burr died yesterday, March 12, 2013 peacefully in his sleep. Clive has been battling Multiple Sclerosis which had left him wheelchair bound and deeply in debt. Iron Maiden even held a few charity concert and created the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund and other charity events titled aptly titled Clive Aid. Clive was the drummer for Iron Maiden from 1979 to 1982 and he played on their first three albums including my personal favorite and breakthrough album, ‘The Number of the Beast”. Clive was a young one at only 56 years old. Clive was known to be someone who didn’t let his illness take over his great personality and optimistic attitude. People said that he was always in a good mood and a great guy on top of being an incredible drummer. The news was shared on the following post from Iron Maiden’s Website: Published: Mar 13, 2013 “We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had [Read More]

March 6, 2013

While She Waits joins the TMG Records family. It has only been a couple months since I first introduced you to the awesome new rock band, While She Waits  from Phoenix, Arizona. In that short amount of time, so many great things have been happening for them. They just recently announced inking a record deal with TMG Records.  Their new album is planned to hit major music retails such as Walmart, Best Buy, etc by the end of this year. Luke Johns, TMG Records A&R representative, explains what caught their ear about the band,  “What stands out to us about WHILE SHE WAITS is their great alternative and classic rock sound, but more than anything, we love their energy. We get hundreds of submissions every week from bands wanting us to check them out, but what’s really unique about WHILE SHE WAITS, beyond what we normally hear and even beyond what’s popular right in hard rock right now, is that their music hits hard and never stops. The music is intelligent, well written and really [Read More]

Don’t miss Dave Grohl taking over Chelsea Lately this week!

February 4, 2013

One of my favorite television talk show host, Chelsea Handler of Chelsea Lately is out on vacation this week. I always look forward to hearing her tales from her travels but this time I am even more excited that she is out on vacation! She has none other than my fave Dave Grohl filling in for  her all week as guest host of the show. Dave is going to be hosting the week with music themed guests and I am sure we will be able to hear the latest on his Sound City Players project. Dave recently released his documentary; Sound City: Real to Reel which is about the history of America’s greatest unsung record studio hidden in Los Angeles, Sound City Studios. Dave also has been performing with what he calls “Sound City Players” that is comprised of an all star lineup of musicians which are featured in the film including Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, and many more including Grohl’s Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Pat [Read More]
