Deftones pay tribute to Chi Cheng on the one year anniversary of his death by releasing song, Smile

Deftones pay tribute to their late bassist, Chi Cheng on the one year anniversary of his death. Chi passed away on April 13th after a car accident in 2008 that left him in a coma for the past four and a half years. Today they released the song, Smile which was off their album Eros which they were finishing up work on at the time of Chi’s accident back on November 4th, 2008. The album was shelved and they then began work on their album Diamond Eyes with bassist Sergio Vega. Rest in Peace Paco De Lucia, world renowned Spanish flamenco guitarist, composer and producer

Paco De Lucia December 21, 1947 – February 26, 2014 It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of one of the world’s greatest Spanish flamenco guitarists, Paco De Lucia. Paco died after suffering a heart attack while playing with family members on a beach in Cancun. Paco has been credited for bringing vibrancy and color into the folk art of flamenco. My father loved flamenco and he loved the way Paco played. I remember my father playing them and asking my son Ryan to teach him to play flamence (even though Ryan didn’t even know how yet). It was months before my father died that he had asked Ryan and sadly he never had the opportunity after my father’s brain injury. Bob Casale July 14th, 1952 – February 17th, 2014 I always hate having to share the sad news stories like this. Original band member Bob Casale died yesterday. It was confirmed on Devo’s Facebook page and was posted by Bob’s brother and Devo founder, Geral Casale: Very sad news to report today. Bob Casale of Devo. Born: July 14th, 1952 . The Doors, Ray Manzarek dies after long battle with cancer

Ray Manzarek Feb. 12, 1939 to May 20, 2013 Rest in Peace The Doors founding keyboardist, Ray Manzarek died earlier today in Germany at the age of 74. Ray had been suffering from bile duct cancer and at the request of his family, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the www.standup2cancer.org foundation. Ray was not only the iconic keyboardist of one of the most controversial rock bands of the 1960’s but he went on to achieve best selling author status as well as becoming Grammy nominated in his own right. In 2002, Ray set out with Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger. “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek today,” said Krieger. “I’m just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Chrissy Amphlett of Divinyls dies at young age of 53

Chrissy Amphlett Rest in Peace October 25, 1959 to April 21, 2013 Today I got the shocking news that we lost Chrissy Amphlett of the Australian rock band Divinyls to her battle of breast cancer. Chrissy was truly one of the most influential musicians for me when I was growing up from a rebellious teenager into an independent woman. Many people know of the Divinyls from their huge international hit, “I Touch Myself” in the’90s but long before I was already in love with many of their great songs like “Good Die Young”, “Pleasure and Pain”, and ‘Boys in Town”. I am going to have see if I can find my old cassettes, I swear I must have worn them out. Clive Burr, former drummer of Iron Maiden dies at 56.

We lost another great one! The incredible former drummer of Iron Maiden, Clive Burr died yesterday, March 12, 2013 peacefully in his sleep. Clive has been battling Multiple Sclerosis which had left him wheelchair bound and deeply in debt. Iron Maiden even held a few charity concert and created the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund and other charity events titled aptly titled Clive Aid. Clive was the drummer for Iron Maiden from 1979 to 1982 and he played on their first three albums including my personal favorite and breakthrough album, ‘The Number of the Beast”. Clive was a young one at only 56 years old. Clive was known to be someone who didn’t let his illness take over his great personality and optimistic attitude. People said that he was always in a good mood and a great guy on top of being an incredible drummer. Mike Scaccia of Ministry & Rigor Mortis dies at young age of 47

Rest in Peace Mike Scaccia June 14, 1965 to December 23, 2012 I woke up this morning to some very sad news. I awoke to learn that Mike Scaccia died after collapsing on stage while performing at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike performed with Ministry on one of their most popular albums Psalm 69. Mike was performing with Rigor Mortis, a band that he has been involved in since around 1983. It is reported that Mike was performing on stage at the Rail which was a 50th birthday celebration for Rigor Mortis lead singer, Bruce Corbitt. Mike collapsed from a seizure and then was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The date of death could possibly be December 22nd and we will update you with more details as received. So today let’s all say a prayer for Mike’s family and friends as we remember a wonderful musician, husband, father, friend and so much more. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike’s family.
