Fall from Grace is coming to you!

February 16, 2012

There is an alternative rock band that hails from Seattle and is quickly spreading their emotion filled music your way. These guys bring me back to a great place where I couldn’t get enough of great music. It was the dawn of the alternative rock age and I think I was about twentysomething heading to places like the DNA or Paradise Lounge in  San Francisco and being lucky enough to catch new and upcoming acts in the early ’90s like LIVE, Jesus Jones, School of Fish, Blur, Catherine Wheel and so much more. This is what this band brings, new energy and great sound to those who enjoy rock and alternative. When you listen to an uptempo song like “18 & Out” you can really enjoy the vocals of Tryg Littlefield as he belts out his rebellious anthem along the great guitar work by Brian Olson and Ty McDonald and Jesse Smith on Drums and Justin McDonald on Bass and Vocals. It is no wonder that these guys from Fall from Grace won the Fuse TV [Read More]

BlackBox 13 is hitting heavy with it’s Rock

January 1, 2012

Several of you have asked for more information on a couple of the bands from my Top Ten Bands of 2011 List. I wanted to formally introduce to a Kick Ass Rockin’ Band that hails from the city lights of Las Vegas. As you know the saying, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. Well if you get to see Black Box 13 you better not keep it a secret. This band is making headway fast in the hard rock scene even though they only formed in September of 2011. BlackBox 13 is Cory Kay, Joe Nassar, Joe Wiehl and Todd Turgeon. Talk about a perfect fit and jumping right into the fire. These guys definitely deliver. You have Joe Wiehl delivering powerful guitar riffs, Cory Kay with his pounding basslines, heavy hitting drumming by Todd Turgeon and top it off with the deep yet smooth vocals by Joe Nassar.   These four guys came together and immediately began writing their own songs. It is a collaboration that has quickly paid off since they were [Read More]

New Politics – Energizer Bunny meets Nirvana

May 10, 2011

New Politics is an energetic trio which hails from Copenhagen, Denmark. I first got to see New Politics when they opened up for The Spill Canvas a little over a year ago; April 29, 2010. I was their to do a review on AM TAXI which was another one of the opening bands and was situated up in the balcony at Slim’s awaiting the other bands. The second New Politics came out, I left the balcony to get a closer listen and look of this awesome band. Fast forward to May 8, 2011. I am taking my 13 year old Rocker son Ryan and his friends to The Fillmore in San Francisco to see them. Over the past year, I was able to check them out a couple more times and they never disappoint. I couldn’t wait to see them perform at The Fillmore. The Fillmore is my place of choice for reviewing performers. I feel the history of The Fillmore incarnates the presence of all previous performers and invokes their energy and persona to [Read More]

Sick Puppies does it again!! Another awesome album. They have a newly released 8 song EP fittingly titled, Polar Opposite! It is great and is filled with my favorite Sick Puppies songs and they are redone all acoustically. They have new sounds and I still love the originals too.
