Oak Street Blues span across the genres for some alternative country rock

April 14, 2014

Yes, that is right I called it alternative, country, rock and I might add even hints of electronic, blues and pop. That is exactly what you get from Southern California band, Oak Street Blues. The band was founded by Chris Hall, and with his 15 year history with several bands from a variety of genres, he brought together his influences to create their own unique sound that reminds me of a cross between Tom Petty and Wilco. Oak Street Blues is Chris Hall on Lead Guitar/Singer, Stephanie Sheer on  Keyboards/Vocals, Jenny Arias on Bass and Alejandra Arellano on Drums. When they come together and perform you are guaranteed an energetic, lively and unpredictable time but hence you will always have fun! You may even catch sight of a Pumpkin, Penguin, Spaceman or Mr. Frog. “Sometimes it’s nice to just get away from your daily life to enjoy a fun-filled concert setting that will make you laugh and jump around,” says Oak Street Blues guitarist/lead singer Chris Hall. “Rock ’n‘ roll comes to life at our shows. We will definitely entertain you.” Their latest EP, Calico, is [Read More]

Black Stone Cherry does it again with their new bad ass single, Me and Mary Jane!

February 26, 2014

Black Stone Cherry unleash new single, Me and Mary Jane and it ROCKS! One thing is for sure, it delivers the pure style of Southern Rock that is what I love about Black Stone Cherry. Too many times, bands try to come out and reinvent themselves and their sound ends up in a completely different direction of their former self. Also, by no means is Black Stone Cherry playing it safe either. The new song is the perfect example that this band continues to put out bad ass music that everyone wants to hear.  The guitars come on mean and strong and the tone is amazing and I love the talk box on the intro. It has such a groove in its energy and the vocals are once again, spectacular. Take a listen to the new bad ass song here:   That is one bad ass single! You can pick up the new single, Me and Mary Jane on Itunes here. The single comes off of their upcoming fourth studio album, Magic Mountain. The new album is set [Read More]

Trash The Brand gives us “Swamp Rock” that you have to hear!

November 9, 2013

I love my Rock-a-billy and I love my southern rock and soulful blues.  Well trio rockers, Trash The Brand from Jackson, Tennessee have created a new sound that will have you begging for more. They have been described as “Swamp Rock” and their music brings southern rock with sweet blues and is an instant hit.  The first time I heard their song, Devil’s Ride the vocals reminded me of Zakk Wylde and then you are treated to the bluesy rock that is sexy and invigorating. There may be only three in this band, but they have a big sound that is creating high energy rock in a soulful package. Scott Austin is on vocals and guitar, Scott Little on Bass and vocals and Steven Pulley on Drums. They have been garnering attention as they were recently chosen as Indie Band of the Week in RockRevolt Magazine as well as recently getting signed to Sent Majority Group. We are going to be bringing you an interview with Trash The Brand in the next couple weeks so [Read More]

The Bloody Nerve hits the spot with their EP “RED”

October 23, 2013

The Bloody Nerve has definitely hit the right spot with their new EP, or as they call it their 3P “RED“. It has three very rockin songs that will have begging for more. It starts off with the haunting  mysterious tune, “Find Ya Love” and of course Laurie Ann Layne delivers her spectacular vocals and Stacey Blood on guitars highlights this sweet composition. This song has such a mystical vibe and will be a contagious one!  . Next is my old favorite, “Local Honey“. I am so glad to see Local Honey on this EP and this version is heavier and deeper and I absolutely love it! This song will have you moving and grooving right from the start.  As I mentioned before when we first introduced you to Laurie Ann Layne her voice reminds me of the first time I heard Chrissy Hynde of the Pretenders. Laurie Ann delivers a fun and flirty sound to Nashville rock with the perfect touch of blues intertwined in this song similar to early Cher. But even with [Read More]
