UPON THIS DAWNING deliver a heavy well needed dose of metal to San Francisco at the DNA Lounge

October 25, 2014

Last night everyone in San Francisco was going wild over watching the SF Giants in the World Series except for us at Music Junkie Press. We were at the exact place we wanted to be…. at the DNA Lounge for the fierce set of Upon This Dawning! We have been waiting for this show and were so excited to catch their set. Upon This Dawning are from Italy and bring a heavy dose of metal sprinkled with orchestra elements/EDM. What you are given is the perfect blend to head bang or keep you moving on your feet. The show was held at the Above DNA stage which is great for harnessing the energy of the intimate room and on this night, you couldn’t contain the fluid energy that was flowing through the stage and the crowd. The crowd was probably one of the heaviest I have seen in a while at the Above DNA and it was awesome! Complete with full mosh pits, circle pits, jumping and head banging galore. Upon This Dawning have an [Read More]

Ice Nine Kills makes a stop in Sacramento for the Not Your American Idols Tour

October 23, 2014

Ice Nine Kills are currently out on the Not Your American Idols Tour and we are happy they made a stop in Sacramento earlier this week. One thing is for sure, they put on an incredibly fierce and energetic set every time they perform. This time was no different as they unleashed their energy onto the crowd at the Assembly Music Hall.  It was also a hard night considering they had just learned about the passing of Tyson Stevens from Scary Kids Scaring Kids and they even dedicated a song. The crowd was intense as they had quite a stream of crowd surfers and determined moshers. Of course Spencer couldn’t hold back as he joined in the crowd surfing!  Check out the photos from our Rockin Ryan of their set here: In case you missed it, make sure to watch their recently released acoustic video for Jonathan. The traditionally melodic heavy band show their emotional soft side as they truly deliver a moving and poignant video which features Jonathan, a handsome young man who suffers [Read More]

Have Mercy premiere new song, Two Years off their upcoming album

October 20, 2014

Have Mercy have premiered the third single off their upcoming album, A Place of Our Own which is set to release on October 27th through Hopeless Records.  The singer Brian Swindle stated, ““Two Years” really set the tone for the record. I wrote the lyrics on my phone the day that my relationship with my ex ended. I was hanging with a friend the night of and he had a riff he wanted to mess around with,” he said.He continued, “Somehow the melody I had when I wrote the lyrics and the riff he had fit perfectly. Him and I stayed up until 6am writing “Two Years”. The song is just kind of a conversation with myself about the things that were going on in my head. We wrote a few songs for the record before this song but once it was written we knew how we wanted to finish the album and what feel we wanted to give.” Check out the song here: Have Mercy is Brian Swindle – Vocals/Guitar Nick Woolford – Bass/Vocals Todd Wallace  – Drums Andrew Johnson – [Read More]

Munich Concert review – Asking Alexandria w. Secrets, Crown The Empire and The Ghost Inside

October 20, 2014

Concert review – Asking Alexandria w. Secrets, Crown The Empire and The Ghost Inside, Contributed by Alexandra Munich, Tonhalle, October 17th, 2014 Shortly before doors opened at 6pm there was already a long queue around the corner that soon started moving. The show was sold out, so some people were on the lookout for tickets without any luck though it seems. The first band, Secrets, entered the stage at exactly 7pm. It was their second time in Germany. They opened up and seemed to have an immediate impact on the audience. They later sold many CD’s in the merch booth which speaks for itself. Second on were Crown The Empire. It was their first time in Germany and I’m pretty confident not their last. Their set started with the opening tunes of their latest album ‚The resistance‘. They played mostly songs from that album, like Machines, Bloodline and Initiation. For the song ‚Rise of the Runaways‘ Brian Escamilla, second man on vocals, also picked up a guitar. With three guitars on stage the sound was [Read More]
