Just days after Lord Of The Lost got back from playing a European Tour with Combichrist, Filter and Rabia Sorda, they announced the release of a new record. It’s called ‘Empyrian’ and it will be out July 29th, 2016. Pre-orders can already be placed. Check this link for further details on the record and on pre-ordering it

Here’s how the new record is described:

With “Empyrean”, Lord Of The Lost have created a dystopian Future-Metal-concept album of epic proportions. The new release takes the listener on a captivating science-fiction-odyssey, driven by a furious mix of Gothic Metal, Glam, Electro, Prog and Industrial.

Over the last few days Lord Of The Lost shot a video for their upcoming single ‘Drag Me To Hell’. Keep your eyes peeled for the release. We’ll make sure you don’t miss it.

Until then, check out their latest release ‘The Love Of God’

In case you’re not familiar with the band so far, here’s an interview we did with Gared Dirge, the band’s piano/synth/percussion/guitar player late 2015:

* * * * * *

Where/How did you meet?

Since we’re a Hamburg-based band, that’s also where we met. Most of us met at SAE Institute (School Of Audio Engineering) where Chris (Voc) is teaching. Except for Class (Bass), who met Chris at an AC/DC tribute gig where they shared the stage.

Where does your band name come from?

Originally, “Lord” was supposed to be a solo project of Chris’, whose nickname has always been “Lord”, hence the name. But eventually, he’d decide to make it a complete band and together with our label, they came up with the name “Lord Of The Lost” to avoid confusion with bands like Lordi and some other band already being called Lord. Ultimately, we’re making music for people who consider themselves “lost” in whichever respect, to provide them a safe haven. It might sound rather cheesy, but in the end, that’s what music is there for, isn’t it?

How would you describe your music style?

The key elements are heavy guitars, synths and electronics (pretty nasty at times), orchestral stuff and, of course, a wide spectrum of Chris’ vocal abilities, ranging from deep, clear singing to haunting screams and growls. Listen for yourselves to get the idea. It’s hard to classify.

What are your influences?

A well-balanced mix between Manson, Rammstein, Him, but also Roxette and other pop acts. And, of course, our very own madness.

Where do your song ideas come from? How does the writing process occur?

Chris is doing most of the songwriting. He has a seemingly infinite supply of inspiration and ideas. I guess, life itself writes the best songs and lyrics, as corny as it might sound. So, once a song is written, all of us are contributing their respective parts, instrumentally and production-wise. That’s the basic procedure.

In March and April 2015 you did a very special tour called ‘A Night To Remember’. A few days ago you released a live DVD/CD of your hometown show of that tour. It’s limited and almost sold out in a matter of days. Tell us a little bit about that tour. When did you first have the idea for that tour? How did you prepare?

The wish to do something like that occurred to us when we had the chance to play a show with a 50-person symphony orchestra in 2013. It was such a mind-blowing experience and we realized, how well our songs work in a completely different, orchestral arrangement without rock drums, distorted guitars and so on. So shortly after, we decided to do an acoustic album just like that, but in a smaller scale, with a six-person chamber orchestra. The preparation for that tour consisted of a whole rehearsal weekend in the legendary Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, where we shut ourselves away in one of the big recording rooms together with our string quartet, brass player and additional keyboardist and just rehearse, rehearse and… oh yeah, rehearse! We wanted the whole thing to be perfect. Shamelessly I’d say, we managed to do that pretty well.

You had a very busy year with lots of touring – two headlining tours, lots of festival dates and you already announced some show dates for 2016. Considering your facebook posts you’re constantly either on tour, recording songs, producing other bands, helping other bands out (like Gared with Blutengel). How do you spend the time when you’re not on tour?

Well, as you already pointed out: when we’re not on tour, we’re writing, recording and so on. But apart from that, family and friends are a major point to care about which is, of course, rather difficult when you’re on tour. So a lot of time besides album productions and other jobs is spent with them!

What is your dream band to tour with?

It depends on who of us you ask. But actually, next year we’re gonna go on tour with a certain band we’ve always wanted to tour with. But I can’t give too much away about that yet.

What do you prefer, club shows or festivals? Why?

Both are great in their own respective way. In most cases, festivals involve a much bigger audience than our own club shows, and that feels and looks just amazing. So you can reach a lot more people and particularly acquire new fans in the form of “passers-by”, who happen to hear your music and maybe get intrigued by it. Club shows, on the other hand, feel a lot more like home and very intimate, which is also lovely. Plus, at club concerts, it shows how many new fans you eventually gained by playing festivals! So yeah, it seems impossible to pick a favourite out of these two formats.

What’s in stock for 2016? Any tour plans outside of Europe?

Most importantly, there’s gonna be a new album in summer of 2016. Touring plans are in the making, but the only thing we can already tell is, that we’re gonna return to Russia for two shows in February. Stay tuned for more exciting tour dates over Germany and Europe. No non-european tour dates next year, I’m afraid. But then again, you never know…

Is there anything you’d like to tell your fans?

Well… Yeah, like… The other day, I had this really itchy feeling down in my… Oh wait, I guess that’s not what they want to hear. So… I’m just gonna stick to saying THANK YOU very, very much for your support, where-ever you are. Or, to say it with the lyrics of our song “Die Tomorrow”: “We feel your love; we even love you more!”

See you soon!

Since they just came back from tour (check out our review here https://musicjunkiepress.com/music/concert-review-combichrist-filter-lord-lost-rabia-sorda/ ) there’s currently no bigger tour announced. There’s two festival dates though, you might want to try catch the band:

Castle Rock Festival, Mühlheim an der Ruhr                         July 1-2

Summer Breeze Festival, Dinkelsbühl                                     August 17-20

Make sure to follow the band on their social media for further details on the record, tours, videos and more
