Arkells are coming back with their brand-new single and video “You Can Get It” feat. K. Flay.
Recorded with K. Flay in Los Angeles before the lockdown in March 2020 the song has taken a whole new topicality. Relevance and urgency after having been ‘locked up’.
“It feels as if the sun has just come out and the song is about being free and able to follow every dream and desire“, says Arkells frontman Max Kerman.
“When we started to write this song, the world felt dark”, he continues. “We were looking for answers. You search for people that give you energy. You search for the small moments that lead you on a new path. The collaboration with K. Flay gave us this push. She turned the song upside down and put the finishing touches on it. Our band continues to develop and grows and she’s now in the family.”
The video is a funny innuendo on the iconic game show “Wheel Of Fortune” with Max Kerman in the role of the iconic co-moderator Vanna White, while his band colleagues play a game and thereby spell useful experiences that we craved for during the lockdown. The “wheel” shows what’s next, be it a live-performance brake, experiences with loved ones or the announcement of K. Flays appearance in the song.
“This song is about finding your drive, the potential energy in you”, K. Flay says. “The moment, when you tell yourself “I don’t give a f*ck. Tell me what you want! You can get it!” So often the future feels unsure – it feels impossible. We want this song to feel like a possibilty…as if the world opens up…as if you have the power.”
