Some Fear None, A must see band from Sacramento!

July 25, 2013

Sacramento, CA rockers, Some Fear None have a new CD out that you have to get your hands onto and your ears listening! I first saw this incredible rock band over a  years ago as they opened up for Burn Halo and Smile Empty Soul. We were blown away by the energy these rockers bring to the stage. You have powerful vocals by Nathan Giguiere, intense guitar work by Chuck Carrasco, slamming bass by Gina Salatino and pounding drums by Jason Weisker. You put these four together and you are completely captivated by their unique rock sound that blends everything from metal to alternative, to grunge and more. Their debut CD, “Break Hold and Elevate” is a work of art as you get a fusion of sounds reminiscent of early Deftones, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden as well as other bands like Three Days Grace, Seether, and more. They truly have created their own unique sound and don’t try to put themselves into any particular genre or subgenre of music. They do what they are best at, [Read More]

The Biters will have you screaming for MORE!!

July 2, 2013

There comes a time when you first hear a band and you literally are taken aback with their sound. You just crank it up louder and louder and push replay and repeat just so you can make sure you are hearing what you are hearing. YOU ARE INSTANTLY IN LOVE! I can’t help but describe it ,except as complete ear porn. Well, tonight that has happened for me…. My son asked me earlier to check out a band for him. I put it off since I was working and then just as I was about to go to bed, I saw the note scribbled by him…. ‘Check out BITERS – love Hallucination Generation”  So I did decided to look them up. I decided to put on the song he recommended, “Hallucination Generation” and it was like I was sucked back into my youth. I was enjoying everything from Ramones, Cheap Trick Sex Pistols, old style Bowie. I was LOVING this. I was sure my son had it wrong and this had to be some old [Read More]

The music of Matthew Stewart heals my soul

February 11, 2013

I know I have been quite busy since coming back from NAMM and working on the Online Magazine, but I also have been quite busy taking care of my 79 year old mother, who has been battling Parkinson’s Disease for the past 15 years. The hardest part has been the last year, since my father passed away from cancer. Watching her includes me staying with her for two to three days a week, all day, and it is exhausting in many ways. She has at times become quite irritated, cranky, and hard to be around. Well, this past weekend was my time to be with my mother from Friday morning until Sunday morning. With Sunday morning being my birthday, I was going to spend the day with my family afterwards. Well, it was anything but peaceful, and unfortunately my time with my Mom was harder than ever, trying to deal with not being able to make her comfortable, to actually try to calm her down from her anger and frustration. It was a brutal 48 [Read More]

Number Station revives Alternative Hard Rock!

January 8, 2013

Number Station Sometimes you just need your music a bit heavier!! Well if now is that time, Number Station is the band for you. I recently got their EP sampler sent over and it was one of those rare moments. Those moments when I was in the middle of multitasking a hundred things at once, going over the list of things to have to get done and then popping the CD in. The first song that played was “The Invisible Fire” which has a great dark mysterious intro that just blends into a deep hardcore mix. It is like waking yourself up from a long sleep and seeing that you only have a few hours left of the day. So you wake up and give it all you got, energized and ready to scream out to the world. You are full blown energy ready to take on anything and you give everything of yourself. This song just gives and gives!  Here you can take a listen to that incredible song:   Then you get into the [Read More]
