Another highlight from Bottle Rock was Smash Mouth

June 5, 2014

We had listed SmashMouth as one of our featured bands of the Day for Bottle Rock last month and they were awesome last Saturday. We were running around like crazy but we were glad we could make it out to the Miner Stage to catch a few of their songs from their set. It was packed from front to back, side to side. They were truly there to give the fans what they wanted; an absolutely fun time filled with their favorite songs. This band does not need any introduction as almost all of us at one time or another cranked up “All Star” and sang out loud at the top of our lungs. I have always had a love affair with SmashMouth since they bring out the fun side in me and capture the perfect essence of summer! You can’t help but listen to their music loud and dance along as their music has always been the life of the party!  “When we play itʼs a nonstop party,” Steve Harwell, lead singer says. That is [Read More]

The Deadlies delivered a fun beach party set at Bottle Rock Napa 2014!

June 4, 2014

The Deadlies were one of our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Bands and we were able to catch their set this past Saturday. One thing is for sure, they truly brought the fun to the festival. Their stage was set up like a surf party complete with beach go-go dancers. The City Winery Local Stage was one of the most happenin spots when The Deadlies took to the stage. This is a local band with a big sound! As we told you before in our preshow coverage, you may have already seen or heard them play but we were not familiar with them. The Deadlies can be described as a California surf punk/rock band with a little Honky Tonk and Country thrown in.  One thing is for sure, when you listen to The Deadlies, you can’t help but move around and have some fun! They are “paying homage to the Ventures Dick Dale and the Chantays as well as the California Honky-tonk sound of Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam while keeping an under lying presence [Read More]

The Cure is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Band of the Day

April 18, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Band is The Cure. Yes, it is Friday and I’m in Love and so I had to feature The Cure today. The Cure are a band that really needs no explanation, introduction or description; they are THE CURE!!!  We all know them and many, many, many of us love them. I have been a true diehard fan of The Cure since maybe 1980 when I first heard, Boy’s Don’t Cry. I was listening to a lot of the classic 70’s style rock since I had two older brothers and a lot of R&B and Disco since I also had three older sisters. With the introduction of The Cure into my world, it became My Music, music for my generation. My older sisters and brothers definitely did not get it nor did they like it. That is also what drew me even more to listening to The Cure, my rebellious nature at 13 or 14 was kicking into high gear and The Cure soon became another soundtrack to a period in my [Read More]

James Otto is our Bottle Rock Napa 2014 Featured Artist of the Day

April 16, 2014

Today our Bottle Rock Napa Featured Artist is James Otto. Today I wanted to feature country artist, James Otto. I love James’ vocals. As many of you know I don’t listen to country that often. I guess it can best be explained by the following meme: James has such an amazing voice, he can take you from flirty, seductive, spiritual, comforting, and fun just by the range of his tones. He currently has his third album out, Shake What God Gave Ya and it is a collection of songs that highlight his powerful vocals and brings to the forefront, his heart of soul. The album is a journey of exploration of country-soul and one of my favorites on it is Soldiers & Jesus. The emotionally stirring lyrics are captivating and will feed your soul.  In regards to his latest album James explains,  “As much as there’s all these different fractures of country music these days—you have pop country, rock country, traditional country, alt-country, and all these things in between—I don’t know why country-soul couldn’t exist [Read More]
