Concert Review: In Hearts Wake and Keep It For Tomorrow – Munich, Germany. By Alexandra Bock

June 29, 2015

Munich, Backstage Club, June 26th, 2015 By Alexandra Bock   So In Hearts Wake announced three headliner dates for Germany aside from their European tour with Counterparts. One of those dates was bringing the band to Munich. They had a five piece band from Leipzig, Germany, called Keep It For Tomorrow opening for them on those dates. Their music is best described as post-hardcore/metalcore. The band opened for other international acts like Being As An Ocean and Our Last Night. Their debut album ‘New Spirit’ was released in the fall of 2014. It includes a song called ‘Evolve’ with guest vocals by Jake Taylor of In Hearts Wake. But back to the show itself. They played an energetic set from start to end. You could see how they love what they are doing and the crowd responded in an equal way. Definitely a band you should check out. We’ll sure hear and see more of them in the future. Keep It For Tomorrow: It wasn’t the first time that In Hearts Wake played in Munich, [Read More]

Concert Review of Set It Off, last night’s show in Munich, Germany at Backstage Club

May 20, 2015

Concert Review Brawlers / Decade / Set It Off Munich, Backstage Club, May 19th, 2015 Faster than I can write this review, the news are out on Facebook, that Set It Off has parted ways with their bass player Austin Kerr. Here’s the statement of the band concerning the departure: Recently we have been made aware of the statements made about our bassist, Austin Kerr. We are taking the situation seriously and have decided that the best thing for the band is to part ways with Austin. We send our deepest apologies to anyone who has ever been affected negatively by his actions. Our fans mean the absolute world to us and their safety and happiness will always be our top priority. We are so grateful for their ongoing support over the years and will do everything we can to make this up to them and to move forward from this.  There’s still some European tour dates to play and they will perform all the announced sets as they also stated on their facebook page. Concert Review: Glamour Of The Kill with Neoblind at Backstage Club in Munich contributed by Alexandra

March 20, 2015

Munich, Backstage Club, March 16, 2015 Contributed by Alexandra The venue, that Glamour Of The Kill played in, is a really small club, but cozy and just right for a fun night and that’s what it was. The opening band was Neoblind, a local band from Augsburg. They are currently partaking in a band-competition, where they just reached the semi-finale. Glamour Of The Kill started their set with the song ‘Out Of Conrol’ from their recent EP ‘After hours’. The original track was recorded with Jacoby Shaddix, who’s known to everyone as the frontman of Papa Roach. The set consisted of songs from the last two CD’s ‘Summoning’ and ‘Savages’ and they played, besides ‘Out Of Control’ also all the other songs of their current EP and an amazing cover of ‘Love Gun’ by Kiss. It was an energetic, fun set. The size of the venue was perfect for them. It wasn’t sold out, put packed none the less. There’s so much more feel and intimacy to club shows than at a big show. Concert Review: Devin Townsend Project, Periphery and Shining NOR at Backstage, Munich by Alexandra

March 13, 2015

Contributed by Alexandra Backstage – Werk, Munich, March 10, 2015   First up, it was an amazing, fun and entertaining evening with three awesome acts and never one minute of boredom. The venue was almost sold out, so the room was packed. The Norwegian Band Shining started the set a little earlier than announced at about 7.45 pm. As singer Jorgen Munkeby stated, they started out in 1999 as a Jazz combo and now it’s ‘Jazz-Metal’. Jorgen himself plays guitar and saxophone and boy can he play that one. He’s getting all that noises out of his instrument. It’s stunning. If you’re a fan of the experimental kind of music, you’ll sure like them. I did! Their latest album ‘One One One’ was released 2013. Make sure to check them out. Second act of the evening was ‘Periphery’. They were well known by a good part of the audience and I’m pretty sure they drew many people there that night. Being a quite popular act in the US already, considering the audiences reactions, they could [Read More]

Concert Review Architects, Bless The Fall, Every Time I Die and Counterparts in Munich by Alexandra

February 23, 2015

Concert Review by Alexandra Counterparts / Bless The Fall / Every Time I Die / Architects Munich, Backstage, February 20th, 2015   Finally a show in one of my favorite venues in Munich. Nice people working there, enough parking space and an awesome club. There’s the floor in front of the stage and to the left and right of it is an area that’s at stage-level with stairs down to the floor area, so you can stand there and watch it from a higher viewpoint or you can go down to the pit and do whatever you feel to do, which was a lot of moshing and crowd surfing that night.   I think it was either sold out or very close to, because the venue was really packed. All four bands played an energetic and powerful set. Every band has been in the scene for quite a while. They’ve all toured Germany before and were known to at least parts of the audience. As Sam Green, the vocalist of the Architects mentioned, this was [Read More]
