Last night opening up for Devon Gilfillian on his headlining tour, Hannah Wicklund performed a solo set in San Francisco.  Capturing the illustrious singer/songwriter/guitarist Hannah in the intimate setting of the Cafe DuNord was the crowning achievement for a midweek show in the city.  She delivered a flawless set that highlighted her passion and dedication in creating musical compositions with lyrics that bring vulnerability as well as empowerment to life. Bravo to this young lady who is a true powerhouse in the music scene today. The set started off with the blistering track On Fire, where you can really hear her guitarwork shine on a Gibson semi-hollow. The tone was impeccable. Hannah performing solo, really allowed us to appreciate every aspect of her performance and be in awe of her stellar guitar playing. Dirty Honey features powerhouse vocals by Marc Labelle, incendiary guitar playing from John Notto, thunderous bass from Justin Smolian and it was the first show where we were introduced to the new drummer Jaydon Bean and he definitely blew us away.   They hit the stage and rocked the crowd with a high energy performance of the title track Can’t Find the Brakes. They continued with full force into Heartbreaker and the fans were loving every minute of it. The band sounded spot on and the charismatic energy of each member flowed seamlessly and effortlessly. His tour Aren’t We Ever Gonna Be More Than Friends? named after his third LP which was released this summer has been packing venues across the US. He comments about the tour “There’s nothing more genuine to me than being on stage performing my own songs that somehow became popular enough to wrangle up a crowd, but I can’t really fathom the thought of headlining an entire North America tour… But here I am announcing an entire North America tour… So put your cowboy boots & bell bottoms on & get ready to get rowdy, cause I can’t help but ask – Aren’t We Ever Gonna Be More Than Friends?” One thing is certain you can’t deny his genuine love for performing and he gives everything he’s got to the crowd and they happily reciprocate with cheers, dancing and singing along.  The energy reverberates through the audience and quickly gains momentum with each and every song.
