Beartooth live in Munich with The Amity Affliction and Higher Power

February 26, 2020

Beartooth started this European/UK tour out with all dates completely sold out in advance. That itself speaks for the band and for the line-up of this tour. Special guests on that tour were Higher Power and The Amity Affliction. Leeds (UK)-based band Higher Power is, according to their facebook page, a Hardcore band. I don’t totally agree, because they are in fact not that heavy. They definitely have a funky vibe to their music. Whatever you want to call it, they might still be a relatively new band, but with their introduction to a wider audience through this tour, they hopefully will get more followers. Higher Power released two records so far, their latest one ’27 Miles Underwater’, came out in January 2020. Though usually the opening band has to play to only parts of the audience, since people tend to come in later when the first band is not that popular, that day, it was already pretty packed, when they started at 7 pm. The band played an energetic set. They were absolutely able [Read More]

The Amity Affliction – Everyone Loves You Once You Leave Them – a review

February 17, 2020

Band: The Amity Affliction Album title: Everyone Loves You Once You Leave Them Label: Pure Noise Records Release Date: 02/21/2020 Track list: Coffin All My Friends Are Dead Soak Me In Bleach All I Do Is Sink Baltimore Rain Aloneliness Forever Born To Lose Just Like Me Fever Dream Catatonia The release of The Amity Affliction’s (TAA) seventh record ‘Everyone Loves You Once You Leave Them’ is only days away. It’s the debut record on the band’s new label Pure Noise Records. I got a chance to listen to it in advance and I’ve been spinning it quite often ever since the first playthrough. Once again the band doesn’t shy back from talking about mental struggles on this record. A topic that still gets swiped under the rug by many people. All the lyrics are written by the band’s vocalist Joel Birch, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years back. As he stated in an interview a while back, he often writes the lyrics when he’s at rock bottom. But the music is [Read More]

Concert review: The Amity Affliction with Northlane, Stray From The Path and Wage War by Alex Bock

December 19, 2016

Munich, Backstage Werk, Dec. 16th, 2016 This show closed my concert year 2016 and I have to say, it ended with a blast. A few days before, the show was sold out and the place was really packed, from the beginning. The crowd was obviously into all the bands, although all three opening bands had some sound problems in the beginning. Nevertheless the audience seemingly loved their performances, considering all the crowd-surfers, mosh-pits and circle-pits that happened during their sets. Wage War Stray From the Path Northlane The Amity Affliction were loudly welcomed by the crowd. The audience sang along to every song, knew all the lyrics by heart.  Almost constantly the security guys had to catch crowd-surfers and see to it, that they got out of the pit quickly, so no one gets hurt. The songs they played were mainly taken from their last two records ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ and ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’. Wise choice probably, because those records really let the band grow over the last years. Set-list: I [Read More]
